King Arms Colt M4A1 lipo

I just got the KA M4A1 and it requires 9.6V Ni-mh twin type but I am inquiring about Lipo batteries.
I was told that the gun is not lipo ready and therefore should stick to 9.6V ni-mh and then I was also told that I can use a 7.4V lipo.
I am not trying to increase my ROF and I have no intention to prematurely wear out my gun. I just want a good battery and obviously lipo's are better then others.

A retailer told me that I should get the 7.4V Lipo and will be the same as if I use a 9.6V ni-mh and will not cause any problems.

Let me know what you think if I can or cannot put a lipo.

There's no reasons a 7.4V Lipo would create issues
7.4V being lower than 9.6V, your ROF should decrease anyways.

Just be aware that you should at least have a "Lipo Alarm" to prevent over discharge/over-draw on your batt and that you'll also need a charger specifically made for Lipo (doesn't mean it must charge only Lipo, but at least Lipo)

Use ELITE cell 9.6v NiMH batteries. I ran them before I switched to LiPo and they ran GREAT.
Only switch to LiPo if you NEED to. IE; if you need superior energy density, or more amperage.

I run 1 battery that is a 8.4V 1500mah and it's good for a whole game.

It doesn't "require" a 9.6v. You can use an 8.4v just fine.

This is correct, a 9.6v will provide a higher rate of fire, but thats about it.

A higher quality 9.6 will provide better trigger response as well.
