M14 Project

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to start a custom M14 and thinking the short barreled SOCOM. Trying to locate one is quite tricky unless I go with G&G (I do like), but I've heard the TM is the choice of many. For external upgrades unless I go to an EBR, are they available?

M14 owners do you find it easy to handle in the field?

I'm in Canada and I can't find a retailer that stocks TM.

Please let me know your thoughts

Get verified. There are retailers in the ASC classifieds that can get it in.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am awaiting age verification to be enabled. I met with an age verifier a few weeks ago and I'm age verified on JOC, but still awaiting ASC!!!

Full size, is the short just to limited for externals?

EBR kits for the TM M14 seem to be drying up. EBR's are very front heavy, and the M14 can be pretty front heavy to begin with. Unless you like the EBR look, don't go for it. I prefer the TM over G&G, but that is my opinion. I think the TM has more upgrade parts, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
All of this and more is available once you get through the age verification trenches.

Since your from Calgary, message a user on JOC called "stubs". He knows quite a lot about M14's and owns at the moment around 5. He has both the EBR and standard M14's. Inclduing two for sale. One of which i would have already bought if i had the cash.

Also, with a quick search here on ASC you can find quite a lot of info on the M14. Most users recomend the TM one as it has the most aftermarket parts available as well the most compatibilty for mags. The G&G one is quite limited in the mags it takes (mostly only G&G), and doesnt have a lot of aftermarket replacement parts available.

Supposedly G&P (G&P Laser Products (I still don't know what G&P stands for someone said "Something and Precision Laser Products")) (not to be confused with G&G (Guay Guay)) makes an awesome M14.

I think someone was saying that they made enough different aftermarket parts for TM M14's that they eventually we're like "Why don't we assemble all these parts together and sell it as a standalone M14". Although it's probably one of those joke stories (like how Pringles wasn't a chip company, they were going to sell tennis balls but a shipment of potatoes came instead of tennis balls and they decided to roll with it, make some crisps and put them in their tennis ball tubes).

Those M14's look really nice (scroll down a bit) but they're like 5/6 Kilos (might be a good workout though.... I think my M4 is probably only 3.5 Kilos and that's enough for me).
