Make sure your hop-up is turned all the way off.

Just crank your hopup all the way up that will turn it off. If you try to jam the rod in there you will permenantly damage the hopup there goes 30 bucks.

TO clean the barrel i usually dab a small piece of cloth with very light silicone oil connect it to the cleaning rod and then wipe it down back and forth until the piece of cloth is clear from dirt. Then i take another piece of cloth and while it down again.

Take out the hopup. Separate the inner barrel with the hopup sleeve from the hopup unit. Now turn the hopup unit upside down. Begin to rotate the hopup nob you should see the hopup bucking go up and down if that doesnt happen then your friend probably snapped the mechanism that pushed the bucking up and down.

If you have chunks of sand in your barrel, you'd first want to rinse it out. Jamming the cleaning rod might scratch/gouge the barrel since the sand acts as an abrassive.

1. Decrease the hop-up to it's lowest setting.
2. Rinse the barrel with fast running water.
3. Inspect the barrel for any large chunks of sand.
4. Clean the barrel with the cleaning rod. (dab the cloth with some silicon oil)
5. Wipe off the excess silicone residue with a clean cloth.
