Which boots to choose ?

They look quite similiar, but the officers boots have a more pointier toe, as the others toe is more rounded, they are both 14" high, so 1 or 2 ?

From a comfort point of view: Do you have a wide forefoot? If E or EE, the pointed toe might not fit as well as the rounded boot.

Dude, the best boots I have seen are Richard Underwoods Jackboots. They are almost a 100% copy of the originals. Lost Battalions doesn't do a bad job of it either.

Too bad about the rounded toe an' the rubber soles...*sniffle* You will want to convert those as soon as possible. Nothing sounds better then a leather sole with metal hobnails an' a heel iron.

Mein Gott! They arrived today and..of cource I am wearing them. I will have to get around to Polishing them. Here is breif review:

Ordering:
Ever since I discovered these boots, I knew I must have them. I sent a email to Richard and found out when he was expected to have them in stock and ready to roll. When that magical day came, I scrambled for my credit-card as fast as I could and sent that order out. 1 week later I was contacted by Richard telling me my order was shipped and exactly one week later here they are. The boots were 165 pounds which equates to about 340 dollars Canadian.

First Impression:
After paying 100 dollars for custom and taxes (18% plus Canada's lovely 14% GST/PST) I grabbed the box and tore it open. (Don't worry, the emplyees at the postal outlet are use to me doing this by now..it was alot more interesting with my helmet)I was totally blown away by them. These boots are beautifully built using a leather that was so great in quality, it blew my father away (He is a rancher so naturally he has a large leather collection; Boots/Saddle/Belts/etc). They are wood-pegged, hobnailed, have toe-taps and heel irons. Did I mention the toes are not boxy and incorrect? No? Well they are perfect, and look very authentic. If I had to sum that all up in two words I would have to go with "OMFG-Pure-in-love-with-these superb-boots" <--Get's my excitement across better.

What next?:
Well dang son, I had to put them on! They fit beautifully and are very comfy. I have had modern tactical boots which don't feel as great as these do. These are definately going to be highly recommended by all who purchase them.

I assume you will be blackening these? If so I'd love to hear how you do it since I have a pair of low boots that I've left the natural colour but wanted to change.

Yes, just finished actually. If it is rough out leather, just take Kiwi black polish, put it on a applicator brush (Handle with round horse-hair bristles) and apply to the leather with circular motion. Then you take your buffing brush (Horsehair again) and shine it up a bit. Do this 2 or 3 times, get some good coverage and you will be good.

If it is Smooth leather, get lazy, buy leather dye, dye, and let dry..then polish it like I said.

Make sure you take natural neatsfoot oil and put that on the soles so it doesn't dry, crack and have the hobnails fall out (Do this everytime you wear them outside) DO NOT use the sythetic stuff as that will eat the stitching away
