AR15 armorer's wrench, if you want to do it properly.

None really without damaging, stripping the outside of the ring. You can probably use groove joint pliers http://www.homedepot.ca/product/husk...-pliers/846718 but it will really wreck it.
Make sure the gun is in a vice and protect it using some rags. An armorers wrench is the way to go though. |

Use the ris as the wrench. There may be a screw/pin in the hole at the 12:00 position locking it from turning where the gas tube would go if there was a mock one. If there is none, put the ris back on to engage the 2 alignment pins and spin the outer nut back on to hold it on. Turn the barrel nut off with the ris. Of all the g&g ones I have handled, none of them have been overly tight.

An armorer's wrench is the only way.
I can give you a shitload of alternatives, but unfortunately you won't be able to put it back together. Use your head and common sense, and do it right the 1st time.

My G&G uses a unique delta ring that didnt require an armorer's wrench. The tention on it is no where near enough to damage the reciever if one were to use a normal wrench.
When I get home I'll dig mine out and see if I can describe how to take it off. It's somewhat peculiar, but a good design for airsoft |
