Velocity Arms Mp5 Sportline series discussion

As a noob, it's my favorite series. Didn't find a main discussion on them, so thought I'd post one here.

Yeah, they're cheap guns, yeah, they're not all that great in certain areas--but hey, as a budget airsoft gun, it's not that bad (Especially when I picked mine up for $110).

From what I gather, out of the box they clock at an average of 310fps. Mine chronies pretty much right on that mark. A single hi-cap mag holds about 200BB's, and you can get a 'dual-mag' (it's actually one solid reservoir) that holds 560 rounds. Uses a nunchuck-style battery.

personally, I have the MP5A3 variant, which has the collapsible/adjustable stock. I love it in the CQB environments like Ultimate Airsoft; the adjustable ironsights make targeting easier. It also has easily adjustable hop-up, too!

In terms of outdoor gameplay, I haven't actually had a chance to game it yet (soon to change this Sunday; see you in Whitby fellas), but my buddy has the exact same model and he says it does him pretty well. Obviously, due to the low fps out-of-box, .23's seem about the heaviest BB you can game without upgrading the gun, so wind plays an unfortunate factor.

However, it sure beats my previous airsoft gun which was a clearshit M4 that clocked at 240fps.

So, any experiences; either for, or against, this series of Airsoft guns?

FPS is low for field play, you'll have trouble with distance and BBs will have hard time even going through a blade of grass. Make sure you get up close and personal, also don't drop or bang into anything with it.

Recommendation: get some midcaps for it, and the pouches to hold them. It's hard to get close if you aren't sneaky, and it's hard to be sneaky with loud rattling highcap magazines.

As said above. The FPS is a little low to go outside with. The wind and bush with reak havoc on your bbs. As well the whitby field is thick with bush so you will need that extra push. I would suggest a spring change and midcaps to avoid the tell tale rattle from your hi caps. We will hear you comming.

I will be there sunday as well. I look forward to gaming with you.

Also you shouldnt post where you buy guns outside of the AV area.

Hah, i've seen that referred to as the 'baby rattle' around here (i'm guessing because "hi-caps are for babies" or something).

Yeah, the rattle does get annoying, but the way I move seems to mitigate it for the most part. It only kicks up if I have to run fast.

I'm the kind of guy that likes to make my approach slowly and carefully though, so maybe that's why.

edit: I edited the OP to exclude where I bought from. I'm guessing it has something to do with the Age Verification stuff?

Also, I'll be the guy with the red/black paint on his chest rig. (decided one night to try and paint it with canadian colors... dunno what the feck I was thinking.)

I had the Velocity Arms MP5K a while back. It fires about 300 FPS with .20's. The hop up was non-adjustable and overhopped .25 gram BB's. I eventually sold it, since it's range was just crap although it was a very fun gun to dual wield in CQB.

apologies for necroposting, but I figured I'd keep my questions contained to just the one thread.

In a stock Velocity Arms MP5A3, what's the highest weight BB you'd use? It clocks 310fps with .20g BB's.

Stop using 'clock'! Your bb's are not in a highway speeding.

.20 at that fps should be perfect indoors, outdoor at least use .25 but I highly doubt that will be good for outdoor use. Goodluck!

I've got the A2 version. Be careful with the magazine well, I lent mine out to a friend for a game we attended and I got it back with stress marks on the plastic magazine well. I'm concerned it's going to snap entirely at this point -_- Anyway, it's a solid gun, mine shoots about 340 I think, and goes about 180 - 200 feet with about 16 inch spread? Completely stock.
