HiCapa 5.1 + Serpa 1911 holster - retention latch won't lock

Now that the mail is moving again, I finally received my Serpa 1911 holster from Huang's. I slide my KJW 5.1 HiCapa into it (model KJ-05, full metal) but the retention latch won't lock down.

Reading the threads tell me that I should file down the retention catch inside the holster until it locks down on the trigger guard. Ok, good enough...

My question is, how do I get to the catch? Not a whole lot of room inside the holster's well, so I assume the holster can be disassembled? Or is there a trick to filing the catch down? Or maybe I'm just overthinking the problem...?

Any insight would be useful. Thanks!

another method which I find easier is filing down the trigger guard of the hicapa till it fits the holster.

The pistol is full metal and the guard is already rounded, similar to the classic 1911 profile. This is the exact pistol:

After inspecting the area where the guard and retention tab meets, I may need to find a different holster. About half the tab area appears to be riding on top of the guard's round. Does anyone have a suggestion for a hard holster for this model gun?

My alternate, at this point, is a soft drop-leg (condor tactical?) and replacing the pistol's mag release with a lower profile and stronger spring (want to minimize an accidental mag release in the field).

You may want to try heating the holster in boiling water and then putting the pistol in to try and soften and re-form it. I did that with my Huang 226 Serpa and it survived. It really depends on how much you movement you need to get.

Funny thing is I had my friends in my serpa last night and it worked just like my 1911 does. Crisp click in and never went any where unless i pulled it.
