I'd do what he said but keep only the bottom rail covers. Apparently, The Barrel trunnion is connected to the handguard on the real steal and if you are doing a decent amount of shooting the front of the magwell and bottom of the handguard becomes very hot.

I think it looks fine, aside from the front grip/pod. I also like the shorter barrel look on a scar... maybe a silencer..

Kalashnikov doctrine has shooters using magwell grip on a heavier round on a rifle with a heavier recoil impulse. People who say you shouldn't or can't do "X" on whatever weapon platform need to go back to the 50's and 70's when Left handed people were forced to learn how to write using their right hands in school.

Even if you are holding the gun on the handguard ala Chris costa Magpul style you will have a unbearable hot handguard.
