TM AK47 Troubles

While firing my TM AK47, the gun was in the semi auto position. I pulled the trigger and all the sudden it began to fire in full auto. I was not pulling the trigger and the gun still continued to fire in full auto and continued to do so until I unplugged the battery. Once the battery was unplugged, I then tried to move the fire selector switch from semi auto to the safe position. When I attempted to move the switch, I felt resistance and it did not want to move into safe. I did not want to force it, so I tried to return the fire selector to semi auto and it did not want to engage in semi auto either. So I left the selector in the full auto position. I was curious if the problem remained, so I plugged the battery back in and immediately the gun began to fire in full auto by itself. Even though the gun would fire by itself, it did not make any kind of abnormal sound...

I then disassembled the gun and removed the mechbox. I checked the fire selector plate for any kind of obstruction, and I found nothing. I was then concerned the spring might be compressed, so I plugged the battery back in to attempt to decompress the spring. The gun fired about 3-4 times and then quit firing all together. I tried to pull the trigger and nothing happened. I did noticed when I pulled the trigger that it felt "spongier" then what I remember. I checked the fuse, wires, and all connections...they all seemed to be ok.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

Sounds like your trigger contacts are burnt out... How old is the gun? What battery do you use with it?

I bought the gun used, so I have no idea how old it is. I installed new gears, bushings, and spring, and have fired 5,000 rounds since. I run 8.4v Elite 2000 4/5A cells.

Did you inspect the trigger contacts last time you opened it up?

No, unfortunately I had someone else do the install. Would there be visible signs of damage?

Yup instead of being normal metal colored it'll be blackened and burnt... by the sounds of what's happening to you there is probably small holes in the metal from the arcing..

If that is the problem, are the parts easy to obtain?
