battery issue
I'm not sure if its the battery or the charger, but heres my problem.
I have a g&p 12v cranestock battery, brand new. I have a universal smart charger. I plug the battery in to charge on 0.8v setting, it charged for about 2 hours, and the light went green. I tested the battery to see how it worked, and half way through a hi-cap mag it dies. So I set it to charge again.. and the light is red while it charges. However, it only stays red for about 15-20 mins and then the light goes back to green to indicate that it is fully charged.. when it is not. Whats going on? |

is it a charger from airsoft parts?
they are not meant for 12V or higher MAH ratings get a better charger |

From my experience, 1 in 4 G&P batteries are duds.

Yeah again, is your charger meant for 12v batteries?

Your charger cuts at 10v for over voltage protection.
Because it is designed for 9.6v battery packs. Get a decent charger that can do 10 cells packs and you should get a decent charge.

this can't be the issue as it states on the charger It is designed for batterys 8 to 12v.

well, either your battery or charger is defective.
try a working battery on your charger or try your battery on a friends working charger. you aren't going to figure out what's wrong until you figure which part is faulty. |

Most non-digital chargers are usually crap.
Your battery is really the life of your gun. It and ammo are the only 2 things keeping it going in the field. That being said, do you really want to be charging your battery with a cheap charger? That's like using really crappy ammo, you just don't do it lol |

I can confirm you that it is the charger that is the issue.
Even though the seller claims that the charger can do 12, it CAN'T. I have tested this brand of charger. There is two version (right from the factory). One can do up to 6-7-8 cells and the other does 9-10-11-12 cells. The sellers claim that it can charge 12V batteries because of the Engrish. The charger will be able to output 12v. That is what is needed to charge a 9.6v pack. The traduction is just crap. As said, get a real charger. That thing is like saying you have an airsoft gun when you bought a Crossman Stinger.

at "12V" battery isn't 12V when it's fully charged the voltage ratings are taken when they cells are low.. IIRC it's something closer to 14ish V..
Your charger is your problem, no questions about it. Those things even kill 8.4 batteries. |
