TM Thompson broken outer barrel

My Thompson finally bit it after a good run when the outer barrel broke just at the joint where it connects to the receiver. I've tried various retailers for a replacement barrel but apparntly TM doesn't distribute them. Has anyone experienced this before and any ideas on how I could remedy the situation?

Get a new barrel machined. Rumour was that Vondnik did it.

Else part it out and buy a new one.

You can always glue it....

Would you recommend JB weld to glue it back together? Or have people had better experience with other products?

Same thing happened with my Thompson. I just took Epoxy and glued the exterrior barrel right to the reciever. That happened almost 8 months ago, and my thompson has been fine since.

For anyone who has experienced the same, or a similar problem, were you using a sling? This is the reason I fear the use of a sling on my Thompson...

Shoot I never even thought of that, I was using a sling for months but took it off recently. That would expian everything.

Actually thats what caused the problem in the first place. Except, here's my story. I had just got the sling in the mail, and put it on my gun, then I got all geared up (with my webbing and all) then put the Thompson around my shoulder, then after I went and took my webbing off, I forgot the thompson was still around my shoulder so when I droped my webbing I also droped the gun (causing it to break) Now I epoxyed it so the gun is rock solid (I just cant take the exterrior barrel off now) but it works great with the sling.

Erik if it brakes agian (or you feal like a more permanent fix) the fix is really simple and makes it super solid. Just look at the link on the first page, the pics make it simple to follow. I could mail you the blanks that I have made and you could attach it yourself too. I tried glue/bondy on mine but it wasn't strong enough.
