Other than the kit, what about the weapons composition? Seems like there are an abundance of submachine guns, which I do not think reflect the weapons composition of a unit at that time.

Seeing as how this is a year away, may I suggest that the players look into purchasing either a period bolt action rifle or a period semi auto rifle?

I will be working towards getting a K98 for this.

Ah, yes the dreaded too many Full Auto on the field discussion. I would agree that there are way too many SMGs, and MP44 on the field. The difficulty is getting everyone on the same page, and I do mean everyone.

If you limited the number of SMG to the appropriate persons, as per semi-historical accuracy, there would be some bitching and griping.

Some would also bitch or gripe about having to purchase a new toy, that may have a limited application.

It would not alter game play. It would merely change it, slightly. You would now have engagements that would not finish in a matter of minutes, but be protracted, and placing a large emphasis on tactics.

I am all for this, and would have no issue with needing to acquire a No4/SMLE or Garand, if necessary.

There is one last thing about this. It would require, that all attending members, be advised what weapon they must bring for the purposes of their impression. Again the gripe and bitching factor may be involved.

I do support this line of inquiry, but I am a realist, I am not sure if it will grow legs or not.

(Just one request fellow German troops. Please avoid Dot44 Helmet covers or field caps, they are VERY farb.
Saw them on the front page of hiki, and immediately picked it up.)

I think we should be careful with restrictions for a first game. I prefer ammo caps, even fps caps for SMGs before limiting their numbers all at once.

There will be NO LIMITS on they types of guns carried, as long as it is a proper

WWII GUN and appropriate for your faction.

I would encourage that AXIS players try to get a K98 .. particularly for HEER players..

but i'm not going to look down my nose at 15 STG44s showing up

we have just under a year.. actually lots of time top save up for any gun you may want.

+1

if you put a rule of realcap, the situation is resolved and we give importance to the MG, as it was in time. Without forgetting that it enhances the dynamics of play ;-)

For this part I'm torn between my U.S. Para kit or a kit of French resistant and ... parler en français uniquement durant la game ...

+1 for the realcaps.

Can you explain real ammo loadouts? Does it mean real cap and a certain amount of magazines?

For my Thompson I use 30 round stick mags but I can carry a lot of stick mags in pouchs, satchet etc. For me a basic ammo loadout is 300 rounds if I can reload somewhere close (vehicles).

What about support weapons... since Airsoft support weapons dont really have an advantage over a Stg44, will we increase ammo for them?

we will limit how much ammo is carried to the Historical , standard load.

as a general rule .. 200 rounds per person

Support weapons, 1000 rounds

Each faction will have to set up supply lines from their main camp

At some of the Ontario games we have a member of our unit who runs an AK with a bipod and realcap filled mags spread through the section in Bren pouches. Although he is mobile with a support weapon that goes full auto sometimes he still has to have another guy with him, and others feeding him mags when needed. Just an idea of course.
