I've painted my guns myself. Except you were asking how those guys up top painted their gbbrs. I misread your post the first time and thought that you were painting an AEG. I'd disassemble most of the internals first before painting for GBBRs just because there are alot of moving parts that are more exposed than an AEG.

Hey TALIBANMILAN, I'm intererested in how well your rifle performs...450fps with 0.30s is pretty high. That coupled with the tightbore and I really wonder what kind of effective ranges you're getting.

Cheese, not really the forum topic for that discussion, but its a great rifle - like any airsoft gun/rifle, on a really windy day you are screwed no matter how hot your gun is shooting.

But when it is a nice, calm day - I can get some good hits (but again, its all based upon the shooters skill and being familiar with your weapons performance/capabilities).

You posted your specs in the thread and also have multiple posts. Of interest, is all. Never seen what a gun shooting that hot with a TB can do. I'm sure a lot of people are curious.

Milan, I just removed akk the optics/rear sight/peq/flashlight/foregrip/what ever
My foregrip/pistol grip and stock was already painted.
remove your bolt and you are good to go.

That's how my gun was looking after the 1st brown layer.

I think if tomorrow is a sunny day, I am going to paint my WE M4 since my first paint job on my bolt-action worked out so well...

edit: what do you do about the selector switch? do you move it after the firs coat?

@Talibanmilan: It's what I personally did for the selector.

As for the whole gun, I masked (painter's tape) the inside of the magwell, the barrel, and closed the dust cover... that's pretty much it. Everything else was kept assembled.

I did a coat, let it dry, moved it again, let it dry, etc... Between each coat, both to make sure it doesn't get clogged in paint and to have the background the same color as the rest of the gun.

Did the same and totally closed the dust cover lol.

I also put some tape to block the inside of the magwell

Personnaly I'd remove it.

And clean the little holes with a really small screw so that paint doesn't build up. You can always paint on top of your selector separatly.

I guess Conker's trick would work just as well.


Just don't spray multiple coats without moving it, or it won't move again :P

me personally i dont like to paint the furniture (dust cover, fire selector charging handle, trigger, body pins ect) i think that shows more detail, and prevents it from looking cheezy or cheap which can happen. many people paint em anyways and it still looks good, but more often... not so much. but thats my personal preference so take it for what its worth to you
