Yes, we do. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=71216
Your guys are fast shooters, but they do exhibit some handling issues that would get them DQ'ed in the blink of an eye at a real IPSC match. It may be anal for a bunch of toys, but if you train wrong, you'll shoot wrong, and with many of our shooters using this as a stepping stone towards real steel IPSC, we want to make sure our guys shoot and handle their guns and gears safely at all times. The last thing we need is an IPSC adjudicator to be monitoring our club, only to deny us use of the IPSC and Action Air names due to being unable to meet the demands for IPSC. |

I cannot agree more
This was the first of it kind in this area. Of course you know that I am a real steel shooter so I saw what you see in the videos. I am trying to promote this type of shooting with airsoft. Many of the people who came, I knew would not have much experience other than skirmish type shooting. I setup the stages for the match. I gave a safety meeting with all the shooters before the match and discussed gun handling, stage descriptions and range commands. I chose to go less rule heavy for this first match because I wanted people to shoot and have fun. This was my choice. I believe once shooters get more experience it will be easier collectively for self enforcement during these matches. I think this will show itself in subsequent matches. The host store AEX has already indicated they want to do more matches and possibly a multi gun.
Here is a video of the California State Sectional Championship YouTube - 4-26-09 GBC 2009 thanks guys, I wills look up the links and CAPS Phil |

Once it's up in Montréal, I think I'll give it a try, and dump a load of needed cash in this.

And yet another stupid rule, now the Standard-Division pistols have to fit into "The Box" with magazine inserted, which means no more mags sticking out of the magwell, which pisses me off since I now have to machine the basepads of 15 magazines to comply to this frigging rule. And the worst part is that it won't change a thing for IPSC in Canada, all guns will still hold the required 10 rounds, only the single stack shooters will be greatly penalized since they won't be able to use those 10 rounders anymore, they'll have to change their whole stack of mags to 8 or 7 rounders.

That rule is actually being re-worked. This is what I had proposed and seems to be accepted by Vince Pinto and other shooters around the world so far: Because Tokyo Marui and WE Hi-Capa 5.1's rule the "Action Air" shooting scene by about 80% of all pistols, and since they all come with the extended mags with the extended bumpers, an exception is being allowed for Action Air that allows the pistol to be fitted to "the box" without the mag inserted. However, once the mag is inserted, it may not extend from the bottom-most portion of the GRIP mag well (not enlarged mag well) by no more than 20mm (2 cm), following the same axis of mag insertion. The extension of the rule prevents guys from running around with huge gas capacity 50 round mags (at the time I made the amendment, I had predicted Marui to release a 50 round 2011 mag.) The exact discussion and exact wording of the proposed rule to be appended to the Appendix of the IPSC rulebook can be found in the Global Village discussion on Action Air divisions. http://ipsc.invisionzone.com/index.p...pic=8291&st=20 starting at post #39. An account must be created to view. In any case, machining the base pad won't do squat. My custom made metal low profile base pads don't even fit to the box, and they barely extend much from the bottom of the mag extension. Even if you DIDN'T have a bumper on the bottom AT ALL, it still would not fit the dimensions. The only way you could get it to fit with a mag inserted is if you use the 4.3 mags. This was not an ideal solution, because it forces all players who buy a gun to automatically swap out the mag that comes with the pistol.

I was mostly reffering to the Real-Steel IPSC in that case, as I am not (yet) involved in Airsoft IPSC. Sorry if it did offend you, it wasn't on purpose or aimed at you.

Okay, I guess that sort of makes sense. The confusion was because your comment seemingly came out of nowhere, so I related it to the most immediate topic: airsoft.

It was reffering to your comment (which was quoted in my post) about the elimination of the Metric Target in IPSC with the last revision of the rulebook, which also covered the "box fitting issue" in question.
But enough of that, let's get back on those steel poppers.

finally a swinger and star for you ipsc guys
Not alot of comments on the airsoft targets, huh. But that is expected from the competitions we have held for airsofters. There is a markmanship element, that is completely ignored by airsofters even though they play with replica guns. Markmanship is a key fundamental of firearms, not indiscriminate shooting.
