Thanks again lerch. I was just going through some of said papers and he is listed as a gunner. I know from talking to him that he was with 12th battery of the 7th medium and spent most of the time working the radios (wireless and morse sets) from the forward observation post. I know he was in the church steeple during the battle for Caen, and that he was asleep when the crossed the Rhein river into Germany. He never talked alot, I should get his sevice record I guess.

It's not too uncommon for someone to have multiple qualifications, be they driver, comms or the like.

I was just looking at the flashes I have. I have three red on black/bark blue 7RCA, two are smaller and for the shoulder but one is 5 inches by 1/2 inch and the print is bigger. where would this one go, did they wear unit ID on the chest over the left or right pocket? It looks about the right size for that.

It could possibly be a later (Korean-era) patch, or possibly a different tailor. Unit patches often varied in sizes one year to the next.

Got a call to go try on the uniform jacket I am having made. Looking good even if the colour is not quite right, should be picking up the flashes Wed or Thursday. I have a new question though. What colour was the great coat the Canadians used. I only have Black and white photos to go by so they all look grey. I have been looking around at a couple of coats that possible be modified to look right, to are grey and one is OD. Any idea,s
