First step of my ghillie is now started. I shoegoo'ed the netting on my bdu jacket. Next I will dye the burlap and cut them into 2"x 10" pieces.

Now I nearly finished the whole back of my ghillie but I'm still having a bit ot trouble 'shredding' the burlap into strands of jute. Seems like there always is a cross-thread in the burlap that stops me from shredding it for all the lenght.
EDIT : tried with a comb, works pretty good. Will post up pics later. Last edited by Huge; July 6th, 2010 at 23:29.. |

You should have shreaded it BEFORE attaching it. It's much easyer and you loose less burlap.

For my last ghillie (third I have made so far), I bought out all the burlap tree-wrap I could find at my local hardware store.
I then cut the long wraps into large squares. Then after having a big piles of square burlap, I took each square, one at a time, tore the individual strands of burlap from the pre-cut squares. Once I had about 12-15 strands of burlap the desired length, I then sinched down the burlap strands I pulled out with my hands and applied it to my ghillie netting. This process took a VERY long time, but in the end, it was well worth the extra effort. I will post some pics after if anyone is interested in seeing the final product...

Oh we do hate you, just never felt like wasting the time to give you a user title :P

So I took an old bdu pant leg and made a barrel wrap for my vsr and went up to the scope, then the pocket of the pants fit perfect on the stock, some strips of bdu made up a sope wrap and some hangy bits for that bushy effect.
My boonie hat has a bit of fish net tied onto the top and more bdu and also some cammo scarf/scrim bits, i ues the rest of the scarf/crim to hang from the front of the hat to cover face and goggles when needed, and i am hackin up an old bdu coat to mace a "cape" to hang from the back of teh hat, again ill use bdu bits. yes bdu bits are not camo on one side, i turned em inside out and rubbed em on the grass and in the mud, not thats some natural colour lol Ill try n get some pics when its all together. but so far just the head and rifle work quite well ive been told by folks who didnt see me till i fell back or cocked my rifle.
