Ares m4 gearbox in different receiver
Has anyone tried putting an Ares m4 gearbox in another full metal receiver? If so what brand? (my ares is rear wired btw)
If this is possible it would be great! Thanks =) |

don't bother. Ares gearboxes aren't fantastic.
it would have to be a pretty spacious slide-off upper (or without the charging handle screw), and you'd have to be pretty patient assembling/disassembling it with that integrated hop-up and the barrel sticking out of it. it also might need some fudging with the lower to accommodate the spring guide assembly.

Tried this in our shop, and its not going to happen with 90% of the receivers I know of. The lower will be too tight and you will need to grind some of the gear box down. This will weaken the gear box and make it unreliable. You will also have problems with the mag catch not lining up properly. Not worth the effort.
