Mp5k as a sidearm
So I was wondering your thoughts on an idea I had. I just had an m4 as my primary and I was looking into buying a sidearms for gaming. I looked through some pistols and saw for about the same price as a gbb I could get an AEG mp5k. So what I was going to do was to rig up a set up using this holster
http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=25146 This vest http://www.evike.com/product_info.ph...ducts_id=27771 and an mp5k with this mag http://www.evike.com/product_info.ph...ducts_id=31061 So the plan would be to sew some molle straps on the holster and widen it a bit to fit the mp5k with the low cap. So like a gbb I could have quick draws. So what I was wondering is does anyone run a Mp5k as a sidearm, how is it working for you, what is the rig you use, and how does it stand up to a gbb. |

I used to run a mp5k as a secondary. Its cute and all, but really i find a pistol better. The mp5k is big and if your down to your secondary anyways the extra firepower u get is negated if your going to run a low cap with it.
Unless your using a bolt action or shotty, I dont see think a mp5k would add much to your loadout. Unless your just want to look cool. |

hmm, I was was wanting to have the low cap so I could still have the gun loaded at all times for quick draws. The package I was buying comes already with a 200 round magazine so I would end up having a little more rounds to fire. How did you holster your mp5k?

I bought a custom drop leg holster. I dont remember the the name but it looked cool. Was just too big and heavy after ahwile tho and I dont think it made me more effective, so i ditched it for a regular sidearm. I have seen a shoulder holster for a mp5k as well.
Could try a mp7 maybe? Its a big more square in shape so may be easier to carry. |

bungee cord sling
stays tucked under your arm/back but honestly you'll have a faster and easier draw with a pistol. |

I use a marui mp7 AEP in a leg holster made by SWAT, it cost about $25 on ehobby. The AEP is sturdy but still lighter than the kwa GBB, so it works well in a leg holster configuration. They make left or right handed ones, btw. The low profile mags fit perfectly in standard pistol mag pouches. Low profile midcaps tend to hold about 50 rounds. The mp7 makes for a pretty cool sidearm with a folding stock and enough rails for all attachments. Probably a better choice overall than an mp5 if you want an automatic sidearm.

for the space it takes up, why not get 5 more mags?

This.
Most games that limit how much ammo you can carry for your aeg don't let you use a small aeg as a second weapon with it's own ammo, 300 rnds + unlimited pistol as opposed to 300 split between two guns. To top it off, my ksc Glock 18 has full auto capability as well as the same range as most aegs on the field so using a pistol is far from underpowered. |

MP5K owner here...
Unless you get the fully-plastic CA MP5K which I think weighs about 1300g, you're talking about stuff like the CYMA MP5K, which weighs over 2200g before putting a battery in... Pretty heavy for a sidearm, even if it is holstered in that crazy thing.

what ever floats your boat lol, i personally like GBB pistols feel and compactness not another chunky gun that can be considered a primary
