KSC G17 mag fires weak!!

Hi guys,

one of my G17 mags fires weak for some reason. The kick is not nearly as hard as it used to be and it doesn't compare to my second mag which fires properly. It fills up ok but the gun cycle is weak when firing. Could it be that I have to replace the mag valve? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Try pressing on the bottom of the mag and firing it. I have a similar problem with an old mag and a g19. The rubber gas outlet seems warn and doesn't seat properly against the nozzle. Everything works fine when a newer mag is inserted. You can get new rubbers to replace it.

Another thing it might be if it happens with all the mags you try, is the mag catch. If it's worn, it may not hold the mag up tight; again causing a poor seal.

If none of that works, you may need a more experienced guy to check inside.

Let us know what happens.

if you've isolated it to the mag than try lubing the hell out of the valve

Ya I've isolated it to that mag. My other ones work just fine and they were all bought at the same time. I'll lube it up and see what happens. I'll let you guys know.

have you compared the bad mag with a good one? when the mag is empty, does the flow valve depress similar to a good mag?

ok so I lubed the mag like crazy and nothing. Tried pushing the mag up and holding it there tight to make a good seal while firing and still nothing. I also checked the flow valve like you said Coachster when both mags were empty (good one and the bad one) and they both depressed equally well. Cosmetically, both the working mag and the non-working mag look the same. There is no seal damage on either one and nothing looks to be loose. I'm thinking just to toss it cause it's frustrating. Maybe something internally is off?

take the mag apart and follow all the paths that gas may take to see if there's some kinda wierd physical restriction. after that it's trying replacment bits or you have a gremlin in your mag and have to treat it accordingly with a 12lb sledgehammer.

so I took your advice Duckman and took apart the mag and followed the gas path. Everything looked good and nothing unusual. I put everything back together and just before I was ready to take care of the "gremlin" with the hammer I figured maybe I should just try to tighten the flow valve just in case. Tightened it about 3-4 mm and tried it....and it shot normal again!! Nice and hard just like the other one. Saved the mag....and 65 bucks. Funny though....wondering how the valve could have loosened....

Thanks everybody for all the help!!

most finiky things get scared when they know the hammer is the next step.
