Where's ACA?
Hi all,
A couple friends and I are thinking about starting up in the sport now that we're done university and have jobs and money. We were looking for some places to purchase airsoft guns and as Buyairsoft.ca sucks, (general consensus of the forum I've read) and ACA's website is down I'd like to personally go in and check out some guns and talk to knowledgeable people. That in mind, since the site is down I can't seem to find the exact address. I'd like to get age verified while I'm at it to look at the classifieds for a cheap starter aeg too. Can someone please post the address so I can check them out during the week? Much obliged. Looking forward to meeting more of you along the way. Thanks. Jaaks |

I've already read through all of the newbie FAQ and tried some of the retailer links and either its where I'm at and I can't connect of the websites are messed because I cannot connect to 80% of them.
Waiting for the representatives to message me back to arrange a time/place to meet for age verification and if possible I'd like to just go to the ACA store and get age verified there and then perhaps purchase some stuff right away. hence this thread, but thx for the warm welcome? o_0 |

Welcome aboard.
You and your friends have picked a great time to look into airsoft. This website has a process called age verification, where if you are 18 or older you can meet with a volunteer representative of this website who will meet with you in person, there is no way around this, no phone, no webcam, in person only, where they will require to see a legitimate piece of photo identification. After the process is completed, it can take sometime as this is all volunteer work, you will be granted access to this websites buy and sell section, where you can find both new and used guns for fair prices. Also age verifacation allows you to access another online Canadian retailer in Canada known as shootsoft. Aside from that options are somewhat limited these days, but there are other retailers available through the age verified buy and sell area is well. Walk in shops these days are pretty much non existent for the most part atleast. Like I said welcome to ASC.

Public retailers in Canada are no more. Our last big one, A&A, stopped selling airsoft guns a couple of months ago. There's 007 that's left, but his prices are pretty astronomical, and getting in touch with Ken is pretty hit-or-miss (look at the 007 threads in the review section for more info). Not to mention that what he keeps in stock is pretty scant at best. Anything ordered from him is almost always a paid-up-front pre-order, and you'll notice there are quite a few people who have paid for guns up fron and have been waiting many, many months for their guns without any communication from 007. If you buy from 007, get what he has in stock. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole.
Your best bet at the moment is to wait until you're age-verified. It's the only way for a noob to this sport to reliably get an airsoft gun these days.

I wish there was a pop up for newbies that would send them to the FAQ first!

ICIC, no wonder none of the retailers are up anymore. I've been on here reading for the past few days looking up info on types of guns to purchase and what to look for. Now the next step is really going out there.
Thanks for the info, its unfortunate the gov. has cracked down so much on this. Back in taiwan I was able get anything I wanted. Now it's a pain. |

Yea, I can tell getting age verified is important, as I've seen many people get flamed otherwise. Like I said above, I'm waiting on the Markham rep to reply me so we can meet up or was looking to go to the asc store to do it as well. Anyways if there are any reps in the scarborough area that can meet up that'd work too, I don't mind the drive down. thx again for everything and the welcome.

Patience is, indeed, a virtue. I think it took a grand total of 8 days for my account to be updated; all I did was pm the verifier I met (DragonHawk, in Guelph) when it hadn't gone through in a week, and the next day it was updated.
In the end, it's still better to wait a few weeks than try to buy from buyairsoft.ca or sneak AEG's through customs :S
