Tried that, works good, but I prefer to have the weapon under my arm instead.

Depending on the situation, i would agree. with a one point sling you sacrifice control for speed of changing weapons. if you need your primary right out of the way for crawling, climbing, ext, you will need a supplementary accessory to secure the weapon like the weapons catch. you don't always need it but it would be nice to have options.

As I said, this one works good, but I didn't like the setup overall (using a weapon catch).

There are cheap sling "hook" you can add to your side rail to basically convert to a 2-points on the go too.

I was also thinking about this, i was looking at the magpul ms3 multi mission sling system. it has a hook on it that allows you to switch between a one point and a two point sling on the fly. maybe i will start with something like that and if i feel the need for more options then i will consider the weapons catch as well. what do you think?

There's a great sling called the 'Ring Sling' (http://www.highgroundgear.com/products/slings)

I would also recommend the S&S Precision weaponlink

the link to high ground gear brings me to the website but its mostly blank, so i googled it and it says the site may be hacked.

the S&S precision weaponlink is very sexy though.
