Did the mod, lost the half cock feature.
Verdict: WA > TM in realism. |

I am not sure what you meant by lost the half cock feature. You can half cock the 1911/Hi-Capa with the stock pistol, you just can't go to full de-cock from cocked . With the mod you can, and there is no more half-cock. Can a WA do both?

What I meant to say is you lose the safety feature. You can fire the gun from halfcock, which is effin' stupid if you ask me. Meh.

Anyways, I'm just confused as to what you refer to as the "safety feature" - what is this feature? Being able to fire from half-cock? |

1911's have three safety features. (This excludes the Sig GSR, and other revamped versions of the 1911 )
Grip must be depressed, thumb safety must be inactive, and hammer must be cocked fully. If either one of these isn't in order, the gun will not drop the hammer. The halfcock was supposed to be a safety feature. |

So the half cock happens on real guns as well? bahaha.. TM>WA.
but again, I can't get the gun to fire on any of my Hi-Capas in half-cock. I did have a Hi-Capa 4.3 in my hands at one point which could fire in half-cock, but only if the trigger was pulled with a LOT of pressure. |

While I was reading up on the half-cock:
http://www.sightm1911.com/Care/1911_conditions.htm pretty simply explained about the half-cock... I have not done any full decock mod to my 1911 or Hi-Capa....I do have a stock hammer sitting around, maybe I'll give that a go.... |

Anyway, I've crapped in this thread enough. If anyone tries the mod, be aware of the fact that the gun WILL fire in halfcocked mode. So, either keep the hammer down, or leave your thumb safety on. |

To much cock in this thread, back to topic please...
Still can't find a full metal chrome 1911 or a metal kit... all of them are ether silver or chrome plastic which is fugly. Any idea's? |
April 17th, 2008, 00:22 | #28 |
confirmed....once the mod is performed, the hammer will drop from half-cock....

you could probably refinish a silver to look mirror/chrome like, but being aluminum if you don't protected it it'll get scratched up and tarnished easily....
I think Guarder are releasing a chrome kit for the Detonic...maybe consider that? I know it's not a full size 1911 though.... http://www.intrudershop.com/show_pro...idproduct=1219 |

You could look into the Premium Edition WA Colt Government Mark IV Series 70 or the Premium Edition WA Colt Combat Commander Mark IV Series 80. I know there are at least a few of the latter in Ontario.
