G&G MP5A4 vs ICS MP5A4

I am currently looking for a new gun and i found these two guns to be pretty well suited for me.

G&G Mp5

They both cost around the same.

Questions about both guns i have~
>Ive heard that the G&G has a much better gearbox than ICS...is that true?
>Can they both fit a 9.6v 8 cell battery in the stock?
>Can they both use aftermarket Tokyo Marui parts?

Things that might help you on helping me decide on my gun~
>Mostly play CQB
>Im around 5ft4in tall (haha dont laugh...)
>Live in the U.S
>Probably not gonna upgrade the gun much except buy more magazines and a black flash hider.

PS ~ Im not considering a Marui because im not going to upgrade my gun much and i want a little more power right out of the box.

Either would be great choices. The ICS MP5 metal body is the best I've seen although I've never seen the G&G MP5. If it's like they're M4 metal bodies, I'd say the ICS one wins hands down. On the other hand the G&G internals are great and they come with tightbores.

I've got the ICS SD2. It's a wonderful gun.

I don't think you'll get a 9.6v in the stock with out some dremel work. My 8.4v is a tight fit in there as it is.

I'm not bold enough to take apart my gun just yet, so I can't comment on the gearbox.

Mine takes TM mags fine, but I don't see any major differences between the TM and the ICS MP5s.

If you play CQB you might want to consider a collapsable stock version. It'll give you an easier to when manouvering in tight corners.

You're short. Don't get an M16.

The G&G says its full metal too. Wonder if its nearly as good as the ICS body.

After actually reading the G&G description I see they are boasting a Magnesium body. I believe the ICS is an Aluminum alloy (maybe an Alumo-Magnesium alloy for all I know). Also, the G&G comes with a low profile rail, and if there is anything the MP5 lacks, it's rails (and MP5s quite often look the best covered in accessories).

I'm gonna guess that the performance of both guns are almost similar.

I've had both and if you are looking for aesthetics the G&G is the way to go especially at their price point.

Wait, does the G&G fit a 9.6v 8 cell battery in the stock without modification?
Im pretty sure the ICS can only fit the 8.6v without modification.

Hi guys

Just my 2 cents worth, from my point of view i would honoustly recomend neither and go for a classic army one instead. Several of my team mates have had both ICS and G&G MP5s and neither have been reliable or lasted. where as all our C.A. MP5s have had no trouble. Mine is 3 years ols and still works as well as when i bought it and i skirmish regularly.

I can attest that the external appearence of the G&G guns is impressive and by all accounts their internals are improving, however both the MP5s i came into contact with were less than impressive in terms of reliability. One guy only skirmished his the once and it didnt make it through the day, it ended up having to go back to the retailer and being replaced. The gearbox just was not up to what u would expect for the money, in the end it went again a few months later and he ended up having to replace the gears, piston and bearings.

The ics ones are just wank full stop, the bodys are flimsy as hell, i have seen 2 snap clean in half and heard simular complaints on UK forums. The wiring is shoddy as hell and the internals just as bad. I honoustly have not seen a decent ICS gun in over 12 years of skirmishing. A mate of mine has had 4 ICS MP5s over the years and has now finally learnt his lesson. He has a new B&T C.A. MP5 and is chuffed as hell with it.

These are just my opinions at the end of the day, and i dont doubt there are folks out there that have had flawless versions by both companies, unfortanatly i just dont know of anyone who would trust either. Its a shames as well cos ICS have some intresting upcoming releases like their galil and FNC, i will have to wait however for some good reviews before considering one.

ICS seems to be getting more reliable now. Their reviews have been getting better over the recent months because of the new version of the MP5. I was just wondering if your buddies bought the latest version or an older model?
