yay! Another problem with my AUG!

Took her out on Saturday, only put 2 lo-caps through her, fired fine, chronied it at between 340-350 fps on 0.25

She has a PDI "160%", (2 prongs were cut from a 170%), and a Systema bearing spring guide.

Motor is not dead that's for sure, I took out the motor, hooked her to the battery and motor turns perfectly fine.

If motor is attached to the rest gearbox, spring will not turn - I gear a clicking sound which is basically the pinion gear on the motor hitting the bevel gear. Tried an 8.4v 1700mah and 3000mah, no go. The battery that it uses always is the 1700mah. It is as if the internal gears are stuck... the previous plastic TM spring guide shattered, and I had manchovie fix her up with replaced parts including a stripped half gear.

All gears are stock, the gear that was replaced recently was the half gear. Could the other 2 gears be stripped?

1. Shimmed too tight. Cause too much friction and the motor will not turn.

2. The motor is too high or too low. adjust it with the screw on the bottom of the motor cage.

My money is on 2. It happens to me sometimes. The screw becomes loose and goes where every it feels like and then I have to re-set the motor heigth and everything.

3. Something else.............

How was your shimming technic?

Remove everything, shim, put just the mechbox together and tighten everything up (leave piston and everything else out) and then spin the gears.

Does it still work with a stock spring Matt?

This is kinda way out there. But I just had this same problem with my MP5. It happened really slowly. Then just died on me and gears seized up. Turns out the axle on the bevel gear started to slip out from the gear. I thought they were one peice but turns out the bevel gear is two parts. Ok not likely that thats going to be your problem.

But did you take the mechbox apart to see what the problem might be?

All the above mentioned causes are typical causes of the symptoms you've described. If all the above are checked and are cleared, then it's possible that your motor may be dead. Try another motor to see if it cranks. If it does, then your motor may be failing.
