any historical re-enactment groups in the Ottawa area?

hello.

So i was just wondering if anyone knows of any historical re-enactment groups in the Ottawa area. I've looked all over the place (the internet) and was Wondering if anyone knows if there are any groups in Ottawa.

Also I'm not being exclusive to airsoft.

I have seen guys dressed up in WW2 uniforms and with WW2 equipment at airshows.

thanks, SS

Re-enactment Scene in Canada is thin on the ground but there are some in most major centers ..

the scene in Quebec is solid concentrated around Montreal

I'm hosting an interprovinicial WWII Reenactment in the Ottawa area in September this year

Every group starts with one guy, you are the seed

First are you at least 18 years old? If you are then read the following. If not, then you will need to wait until you are.

There are a couple of groups around the Ottawa area that have not been mentioned here that are Blank firing Re-enactors. I will send you a PM with some emails. But you have to expect that you will need to do some travel... no group is restricted to just one area... not if you are really interested in re-enacting... Airsoft, Blank fire or living history. Travel and you will experience some great events.

And as Brian said... you are the seed... if you don't have a group in your area or it doesn't meet your needs then start a group. It has to start somewhere. The WWII airsoft community has grown by leaps and bounds over the last seven years (from 0 to groups across Canada) and it continues to grow.

Also, the next time you see those WWII re-enactors at the air show... go up and talk to them. I'll bet $10 that they will be looking for recruits. We have several guys that have joined our group from seeing us at Living history events (Baker being one of them). And as Baker said... you are always welcome to come down and join in any of our events... I wouldn't expect you to make the drive for a one day event but we do a lot of weekend events as well.

Also feel free to join or forum... just click on my signature to get to our website. Lots of information and very knowledgable peopwaiting to answer any questions that you might have. You'll also find links to the Quebec guys as well.

hey, thanks for all the input, i am unfortunately still uder 18 (it is very annoying)

I was mainly thinking of doing re-enactment potentialy after high school or after university (i will be going for a history degree..hopefully).

From all the sites ive visited, it seems to be the best way to learn the finer bits of history you dont get from books.

Our feild in ottawa (Red devils) is open to under 18 with parental supervision and at least id like to see a WW2 themed day (even if it means just no digital patterns and modern tac vests)

thanks,
SS

Trust me it a far more annoying to be kicking the door down on 50 years.

you will be too young for a couple of years and too old for the rest of your life.

spend the time researching, and gathering your kit. buy your gear large.. you will probably get bigger.. and we will still be here when you are ready
