I see. It's an inverted spring that holds the port closed rather than the spring throwing it open. That makes sense. I was wondering how it worked, either CA style (magnet) or TM style...

So there you have it. The seller outright lied to you telling you the charging handle comes out normally. You're either missing the spring or the plastic part that holds the spring is broken.

Your best bet would be to just remove the uppper receiver and check it out yourself. Not sure if G&G cracks open like a TM when you remove the rear pin or if you need to remove the front pin to slide the receiver off. Either way, it should be fairly easy to remove it.
