They are there to keep the wires better separated.

When installing the grip, often it's helpful to completely remove the motor height adjustment bolt, and observe the motor is perfectly centered over the hole. If it's not then you'll run into adjustment problems. Hope this helps.

Also, when loosening the adjustment screw, knock on the side of your grip a few times to let the motor pull back (It's held in place by a spring and might be caught in a wire).
Thanks for the replies guys. I forgot to bring it to work with me but I'll attempt to reroute the wires when I get home.
