I got mine after I saw pics if real operators using them: they fit fine in the [huge] AK trigger guard, they're very snug in a stock M4/M16 trigger guard but fit fine in
KAC-style trigger guards (albeit you can flip down the regular M4 trigger guard for use with winter gloves); similar its a snug fit in my 1911's trigger guard but fits okay in my PX4.
So generally I'd say they're usable without issue, and they provide decent tactile response despite the thickness -- more than enough to adequately operate the bolt catch, mag release, fire selector, etc and stuff like PTT button. I can also operate my Garmin Oregon with surprising ease (it does have fairly large icons) but I wouldn't want to use the soft keyboard on my smartphone with them on.
