I machine washed an OD Condor Molle vest and all of the 'Cordura' parts came out an ugly green/grey/brown colour.
Fill your bathtub with just enough water to submerse your gear (about 1/6th to 1/5th) and add about 2 tablespoons of liquid detergent.
Let soak for as long as you can stand it (20mins minimum, 1hr optimal), scrub (kitchen sponge with green scrub pad does the job), hang dry. You shouldn't need to rinse unless you're removing a hell of a lot of dirt or your laundry detergent is scummy or really concentrated.
Have a beer after all of your hard work.
