BBs will eventually shred any material out there. I use to use an old leather jacket as a backstop, within 10,000 rounds it was shredded. Use somethig tough and purpose chosen, make sure it hangs and can swing freely to absorb impact. My trap has always been a milk crate with a swinging material backstop trap, with an army mesh laundry bag attached to the back to collect the BBs and bits of paper target.
