Ordering from Evike right now is not the best idea. They are going through definite rough spots so I will attempt to break it down.
1. As evike deals directly with a lot of the manufacture they are able to get the last few items from that manufacture. This means Evike gets say 5 items and lists it on their website, customers see this and order 25.
2. This leads to issue two. There is not a live inventory system in place currently. They are attempting to get it up and running, but it will most likely be 3-4 months before it is functioning and then another month before all the kinks are worked out.
3. After the disaster of a Holiday season Evike had they hired a lot of new staff. This has created the issue of dealing with new staff as they attempt to restructure.
4. There is definite varying priorities between some of the management. I personally know the 1 man who is the RMA department. Yes only 1 person handling all returns. He is constantly told to stop doing his job to do other jobs around the store. People complain about not getting calls or emails returned and this is one of the reasons why.
5. For those that did follow the website they know that Evike moved I believe almost 2 years ago. Within 6 months of moving to the new larger location(Personally being to both stores it was definitely a huge change in size), they had out grown the new location. They have been battling with this ever since.
6. Evike has been trying to implement some pretty cool features for a new website. This has taken a lot of time an effort from the programmers and has in turn put a lot of other issues on hold with the website. With the last holiday rush these issues are atleast starting to get addressed (live inventory, hopefully a check shipping option, etc.)
These issues and others have really made Evike horror stories a more common occurrence. There were definitely many threads about how Evike screwed a customer, but for everyone one complaint there were probably 100 happy customers. This is no longer true, definitely during the last holiday season where we had 5 or 6 users signing up every day on the forum to ask about issues with their order. This is happening once again with the shut down of the clone companies in China. Hopefully, Evike will address these issues promptly to make them a reputable online dealer again.
The flip side is I definitely believe in supporting your local retailers. Running an airsoft store in the US is hard enough, I can see it being 1000 times harder in Canada with the laws currently in place. These people put forth a lot of blood, sweat and tears into trying to provide this hobby to you and if they provide satisfactory service should be supported.
