TSD SD700 - Slam Fire
 

guys do not buy this gun unless you plan to upgrade/replace every part.
this gun was shipped "new" from buyairsoft.ca

problems:

1. one nub from the hop-up arm was broken
2. hop-up adjustment bar broken
3. gun was double feeding + jamming
4. bipod pin snaps off
5. slam fires
6. ungodly amounts of grease
7. modification required for silencer adapter
8. non-standard 510mm inner barrel
9. air brake looks like it snapped off or was modified
10. crushed the orange tip during removal = voided warranty
11. Zero trigger piston does not fit Cylinder

You are AV and bought this POS on buyairsoft.... why?

Well I planned on replacing most of the parts anyways. Didn't think the gun would die that fast.

$500 TM + Upgrades or $220 TSD + Upgrades

I hope your upgrades will fit in it. Cheap knock off are notorious for loose tolerance and ill shaped parts.

the slam firing sounds like you're sear has worn down or broke thus is not catching the spring.

Slam firing = you've broken sear #1 inside the trigger box

Now it may not appear to be broken, but most of the time they bend EVER so slightly that renders them completely useless.

turns out the Zero trigger piston doesn't fit. doesn't make it past the threads..
sigh.. $100 for a laylax teflon cylinder.

All thats left of the TSD is the barrel and stock

Looks like I will have to sand down the receiver a bit aswell. A bit of a gap between the receiver and ZT.

Have you ever upgraded/fixed a BA rifle?

Do you understand how the VSR-10 and it's clones is working?

You can fix the slam fire by simply file the first sear (the one on the piston, Amos, that is sear #2) at a slight (barely, not even enough to see it) angle. The stock part of casted and most of the time the edge is rounded and will cause the piston to slip, especially since there is a lot of grease everywhere in clones.

If you bought the piston I think, it is normal that you have a hard time to fit it inside the cylinder. The ones I am talking about are made with a thin lip all around the piston head. The lip is so soft that it will grab on the treads and jam between the piston and cylinder.

There also is 3 different versions of VSR-10 cylinder sets.
Regular
Bore-up
Short stroke

Make sure you bought the right parts for the right version. The stock one should be a regular. By the issues you are describing, you might have bought a bore-up kit.

Double feed can be caused by a lot of other things than the little "U" shaped stop. You barrel might not be seated properly, you hop-up unit might be loose, your hop-up rubber can be set wrong or deformed.

The bipod mount on the TSD M700 is molded in the stock plastic. It is bound to break. You can buy a separate nub and replace it VERY easilly by drilling a hole for the screw and place it at the same place the stock one it. You can also simply install a 20mm rail at the same place, using the front barrel bolt and make a hole for the second one. G36C rails work good for that.

By the way, upgrading a BA rifle (or buying a cheap clone to do so) means that you will only have the barrel, receiver and stock left from the original rifle.

It is not like an AEG where you change a spring and 6 nylon bushings and you are done.

hey Kos, the piston came with the Zero Trigger (90 degree vs 45 degree piston).

And thanks for the tips. definately plan to fix the bipod mount. Bipod ftw!

Actually, I never use one... There is always something to lay on when on the field... bipods are for plinkers. lol

this review should be put into that one guys thread who, despite all of our advice, kept insisting on buying the damn clone.

That's what I keep telling him! Haha.
But seriously, it was considered, and the price-point is still well below the TM considering that he was planning on swapping all the major internal components anyways, even if he had bought the TM.
