possibility of a ASC "Guntech" Tag?

Hey... Know how we have all these pretty "Retailer, Age Verified, Verifier" and all those tags?

I'm wondering if it would be possible to create another tag for proven ASC guntechs... so people would know the difference between the advice that some one's had good experience with... or the advice of some one who's bashed an AEG with a monkey-wrench and called it fixed.

By proven... I mean something like... You have to have at least 10 people that you've worked on their guns (that would be willing to post on ASC and actually confirm it), and that would recommend you for the tag.... Because lets be honest... There's some "1337 gun techs" out there... that REALLY shouldn't be referring to themselves as "gun techs"

Thoughts?

This is a great idea. I'm all for it, for what it's worth.

I agree with this, would be a great Idea. Only problem is proving who is a gun tech and who isn't, I refer to myself as a gundoc now (after about 3 years of working on mine and my close friends guns). Problem is, I'm more skilled than many of those calling themselfs gun docs even though they JUST discovered the sport but I only work on a grand total of 2 other peoples guns. And those who really shouldn't be called gundocs who call themselfs that anyways tend to have like 10 other noobs that know nothing who would vouch for them saying " he fixed mah gunnzzz nows it has a real likez grinding sound"

Edit: maybe the mods could come up with some sort of written test.......

That's a great idea. +1 for the action.

im all for it

written test lol. that would work the best IMO
*facepalm* i just suggested another test... kill me now.
Although, if we have a "guntech" tag, we'll need a seperate "PTWtech" tag

Great idea, Maybe have at least 15 members who are verrified and have been here 1year plus to endorse them?

If you find a way to make it work, i think its a great idea

This isn't the first time it's been suggested. It's on a very long waiting list of "maybe's" that will eventually be studied.

I like the idea. It's a step forward to organise the community.

I could swear we already had something like this going on... Just not integrated.

found it.

I think it would be useful. But as was already mentioned a few times, it's WHO gets listed as a gun doc that's the issue. There are a few self-proclaimed "gun docs" on this forum who I wouldn't let take a tool anywhere near my guns...

great idea. With tons of opinions to choose from when asking repair questions, that tag would help determine who's advise to take.

not really you could just put the extra details in your signature like "PM me for quotes specialize in ICS and Classic Army" "Specialize in PTW please PM for info"

Totally agreed. The number of guns that got "fixed" by a self proclaimed guntech which I've had to unfuck just isn't funny. Usually it's really basic stuff, too.

I don't want to name names but at this point I wouldn't want the guntech tag just to avoid association with some of these quacks (I don't doc for the general public anyway: people I do work for already know me)
