Not really a newbie but I've been out of the game for a whlie: Info on Thompson M1A1

Hi there,

I sold off all my airsoft guns many years ago and got my PAL. I've built up quite a collection of firearms since then. I used to go to Tru Lai's place when he was down off Jalna here in London to buy rifles and I remember when I was telling him about getting out of airsoft ownership he said I would be back into it for one reason: you can't shoot a firearm in your house. I think he was right because now I feel the need for a nice Thompson M1A1 to fire at cans out at my parents' farm when I go to visit.

Since I've left the forums so many years ago things have obviously changed (legally and otherwise) and I don't even remember all of the online retailers I used to buy from and the ones that used to exist don't always seem to be around like they used to. It seems, from what I see, that Cansoft has replaced the guns of the olden days and I am disheartened that the age-verification was retro-active and now I can't get into the old buy and sell.

I wanted to check before I even thought about going to the trouble of this age-verification thing if what I wanted was even still available.

Is it still possible to get a "full colored" Thompson new? Used? Is Tokyo Marui still the best way to go? What are the prices of these particular guns right now generally?

Thanks for your help. I know this board is much more firey than Canadian Gun Nutz so I have my flame retardant suit zipped up tightly.

your in the newbie tank so you dont have to worry about getting flamed. ALL the online retailers are pretty much gone. but can soft is actually pretty new and not that widely accepted yet, most of the guns for sale in the classifieds are the good old black and evil guns you know and love. glad to hear your getting back into the sport, once you meet up with a rep and get verified youll see that there's still alot to choose from. TM is still a safe bet but the cheeper china brands are moving up in quality and have become a good cheap alternative to the more expensive Japanese makes.

hope that helped
cheers

Oh my! Have the prices of the used evil guns gone up as a result?

Some kinda welcome back! Get age verified and you should get access to the retailer and buy and sell section. I would recommend a CYMA M1A1. 390 FPS out of the box and a tightbore I beleive. Had one a few months ago but had to let it go since I was going the PTW route. Compatible with TM Mags too.

You can still get solid color and full metal airsoft. I've seen a few tompson for sale so I'm sure you can still find what you looking for. Cansoft is just what you can import without special permits.

ironically no, there pretty much the same, in some cases they have gone down

Tm's are still the benchmark for airsoft. As for finding a Thompson that may be difficult. Also there is a retailer here that once verified you can get your full black guns new.

Thanks to some hard working online retailers who sell through ASC, prices have actually gone down small chunk from what they used to be. I wouldnt say they were severely slashed but what I can say is the money you save can be atleast enough to put towards a few extra mags or a new battery or two. We're not on par with the US or Japan but its still better than paying the arm and leg of what it used to be.

Welcome back.
