AK with M4 stock mod
 

Hi gang,

Does anyone know how compatible, solid & easy of a modification AK to M4 stock..

1) Would following components fit on a Marui AK full stock body?
2) Are there any special modification needed?
3) Would the battery be able to feed into the body to the motor?

I have never installed one of these, and mark my words... I never will.

But, all m4akstock hating aside, it looks like the metal plate with the two holes in it replaces the stock trunnion, and the screws face outwards and sink into the mini-tube (You probably screw them together before hand)

I've fiddled with one of these before, and yes, there is still a way you can feed the wire through the buffer tube into the stock.

I do not think you need to modify anything to get this together, it looks like there's space for the stock tangs to fit inside that adaptor.

I'm not an armlight fan either (Hence the HK416 stock).
But I'm building a 5th AK project, I wanted something different with a good battery compartment.

Short, compact with good ROF.
I have beta front end-full stock body with potentially this stock.
Should have an interesting feeling...
Still not have made up my mind.

If not its going to be the TM beta black full stock and its becomes a regular beta spetz that I'v seen time & time again. So I guess im looking for something out of the ordinary too...

You can't beat the feel of a full wood beta spetz.

It's the perfect size, and has the perfect amount of space for batteries...

I just with they made a thumb hole grip for the spetz, I would have bought one hands down... but instead, I just make my own :D

Might be fitting good.

The battery might need some material removed from the tube. The wires probably could be fitted in the grooves on the sides, but there would be some work to do.

yeah .. i saw that version too..
just dont know if its would look good.. or work well.
having the stock that is already larger than the with of the gun fold sideways.

but in a strait configuration this tube looks more solid of a solution if you can mod it to have the wire penetrate the cylinder.

just does not appeal to me.


or with this product wire the gearbox to use a topcover stick and use a regular slim stock M4 stock without battery.
but this negates the secondary reason of using a "powered" crane type stock.

And by "make my own" I wasn't talking about the wood... I was talking about the "Spetz" part of it.

would be expensive but still less than a crane stock + adaptor & battery.

G&P make a kit to convert the AK to a modernized look with an M4 telestock and some other stuff. It comes with a metal receiver so you might have some difficulty getting it in. One of the new retailers may be able to get it for you. http://cgi.ebay.com/G-P-AK-AEG-Tacti...QQcmdZViewItem

I used to subscribe to the "no accessories on an AK" line of thinking. However when I saw this from G&P my thinking changed:

To me this is a tasteful, modern progression of the AK. The M4 stock sort of gives the same appearance as the drooped AK wood stock, while the tan color is similar to a light wood. I still think an unaccessorized AKM looks better but I wouldn't be averse to carrying this rifle into the field.

The one on the right is beautiful.
If I ever bought an AK, I would want to to look like that.
No accessories, no optics, no vertical grips. Just plain wood and metal AK glory.

Ok, maybe install the 40mm grenade launcher.

I've always liked a nice wood and metal AK, the tacticool thing just never looked right to me. Going with what Gryphon said though G&P is making some nice kits that I think look fairly good. While not everyones cup of tea they do have a few kits that come with an extended battery stock as well. Like I said, never liked AKs with lots of accessories, but stuff like this is starting to bring me around to the dark side.

I think what's important is the general profile and spirit of the AK is maintained for it to look good. Essentially you're swapping the furniture which looks as if cut from the same cloth, just born of a few generations later. I've never been a huge fan of the 5.45x39.5mm either, so the full-curve 7.62x39mm mags are still my favorite too.
