Ak v3 gearbox, nozzle not always resetting

I have a Cybergun aks-74u with a LCT gearbox and I just replaced the nozzle with an aluminum one. I was trying it out and found it was sometimes double feeding and other times not feeding at all. So I cleared it all out and when looking down the feeding nozzle (with eye protection just in case, you can never be too careful you know) I found that the air nozzle wasn't always resetting all the way (it would reset in the halfway point and then after a few shots it would reset to the back).

Does anyone know what might be wrong? could it be the tappet plate or maybe the spring for the tappet plate? help!!

What you are describing sounds completely normal.

Nateman332 January 9th, 2014 17:46

really?

Out of 3 AEG's I've owned, this is the first to do it

the position the nozzle stops in is relative to where the sector gear stopped spinning.
most likely its a bad air nozzle or you inadvertently created an air leak somewhere

pestobanana January 9th, 2014 18:50

What was the last thing you changed before it started misfeeding?
Yeah the usually doesn't usually stop in the full forward position after firing on semi unless you have a super slow rate of fire or really good AB.

The last thing I changed was the air nozzle, so I highly doubt that it's "bad", though it's not impossible that it's leaking. Oh! and it was miss-feeding when I got the gun because of bad hop up bucking.

ThunderCactus January 9th, 2014 20:06

can you chrono it?
ive seen air nozzle leaks accountable for 90fps drops and misfeeding

Nateman332 January 9th, 2014 20:25

Sadly, no, I can't crono it.... but I can tell it's not shooting the 400 FPS it's supposed to.
Is there anyway to seal up the nozzle without buying a new hopup unit?

ThunderCactus January 9th, 2014 20:40

do a compression test on the mechbox with the nozzle in the forward position

stupid question, is the feeding nozzle the same length as the last.

pestobanana January 10th, 2014 00:04

Wait so when you say it was misfeeding because of a bad hop up, is that what you were told or did you confirm it by fixing it?

What tells you it should be shooting 400 fps?

Well when I received it it was miss-feeding every shot so I checked out the bucking and it was ripped, so I replaced it and now after replacing the nozzle it miss-feeds every so often (every 3rd or 4th shot).

and I was told that it was shooting ~400 fps by the seller (who did have a crono)

Does the nozzle actually fit in the hopup unit?

it does, how else would it shoot? but tomorrow I'm going to take out the nozzle and make sure it doesn't fit too loosely.

If it does fit too loosely then does anyone have any ideas that don't require me buying a new hop up unit? I'm low enough on funds as it is.
