Shotgun BB Weight

Hi fellas. I'm picking up a shotgun soon, and was thinking about something interesting. (I did a search, nothing similar popped up)

Since I only plan on using my shotgun in close quarters out in the bush, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use higher-weight BB's to punch through the bush?

The shotgun I'm getting is a tri-shot springer that clocks in about 300fps. Now, usually one would use a .2 or .23g BB for that fps, but with my shotgun, I'm not looking to get maximum range. I'm looking to punch through bushes and shrubbery to hit people on the other side.

What would be the most efficient BB weight to do that? I was thinking along the lines of .25g or .28g.

I like a mixed bag of nuts for my shotty .20 .25 .28 ect.. (same ones I use in a Grenade) this way its more of a spray.

Let the attacks begin.

for the record: I talking about a Tri barrel shotty

People do different loads depending on the shotgun and depending on where they're using it and what they want to achieve with it.

Keep in mind that using heavy BBs will give you a very tight grouping: for a lot of people, specially those of us with multi-BB shotguns, it defeat the purpose of having them. If its your primary weapon and you want to punch through brush at range than sure, okay; but at closer range, in CQB environments etc., having a wider 3, 5 or 7 BB pattern is a lot more desirable.

Personally I like a mix of .12 and .20 for that (5 BB gas shotgun)

its a pump action tri shot, dont expect much "punch" at range. We chrono'd my shotty at around 200fps with .2s and I usually run .2s in the shotgun or .25s

its definatly not a "range" weapon. CQB yes, fields not so much.

I've seen people throw .28's or .3's and run them well out door.

Mix it up and see what you prefer, the spread, or tight groups. See what flavour tickles your taste buds.

Yeah. When I have this gal, she's going to be for CQB only. Base defense, ambushes, etc.

I'm not really worried about range on this thing; I want to eventually upgrade the spring (provided this fucker can even be pried open) to get a solid 350fps and then use some .35g BB's in it.

Won't hit a guy a ways away, no doubt. But catch that mofo up close and personal (say, maybe on base defense, in an ambush, etc) and it'll be able to tickle them just a little. Even through bush.
