Looking for Radio Communication
 

Looking to purchase a communication device. I don't want something bulky and therefore I have found this http://www.clearercom.com/teamset.html

Any reviews or comments about this? I did see someone play with this device over the weekend but not sure if its exactly this model but I know its a throat mic.

Let me know your opinions or if you have any other suggestions.

throat mics are seriously cool...but have serious problems from what ive heard, unless your 100% shaved and have it in 100% right place you get static and garbel... the team i am on is doing a large order of linton radios *approximatly 7 radios* they have further distance then motorolas and more channels which can be helpful. i personally will not buy a throat mic due to what ive heard but still not sure what i will get, much like yourself i do NOT want something bulky

if you're deadset on a throat mic and are looking to spend some money on quality, buy either iasus or devgru. my devgru has amazing clarity and has no background noise issues.

Seems like redwolf is out of stock, but wgc and other retailers have them so you'd just have to look around.

Some good advice here. Throat mics can be hit and miss for sure. I stocked some cheaper units awhile back but the quality was not up to par. The fit has to be secure under movement, while still being comfortable and as was suggested ... shave that throat!

The one we sell is a full kit with finger PTT option. Not cheap but not crazy expensive either. Very good feedback on this unit.

Iasus and Devgru do make some really nice stuff. Can't go wrong there either. I should be able to get the Devgru in.

+1 on Techsellers link. A teammate and I just got those for our wouxon radios and they've been working flawless and fit nice n tight around the neck (I'm not furry so don't have the issues mentioned). My only gripe is the ear piece doesn't seem to fit my ear all that well, and trying to insert the one style requires a mirror and steady hands...lol Otherwise works great.

What I've found with my throat mike is you have to speak in a normal voice. If you whisper or aren't clear no one can hear you. The boom mikes seem more sensitive.

plus one for Linton radios. We've used them for years without issue. To the point where everyone has switched over to them. Great clarity at major distances, and will withstand weather and take a beating. They work well with mid to high range dual pin headsets as well. As for throat mics, maybe one in a few can use one successfully. And only if you buy top of the line. Everyone I know that have used one has now moved on. There is only one guarantee though.
