Home made Mag Pouch Radio Protector
10 Attachment(s)
Hey peoples, was getting ready for a game this Saturday and made this, thought some might find it useful.
I put my radio in the front pouch for easy access, but everyone knows buttons get pressed. I started with one of those dollar store cutting boards that are really thin. 1. Cut out what you thinnk is the size of your mag pouch.....or you can measure  Attachment 18695 2. The end of the skinny peice should look like an arrow Attachment 18696 3. On the opposite side, in line with your arrow, cut a long straight line not too far from the edge. Make sure that it is slightly smaller than the arrow so the edges can grab. Attachment 18697 4. The entire peice should look just like this......or better if you take your time and measure and shit. Attachment 18698 5. Take the arrow and put it in the slot , the tips of the arrow should keep the skinny part from pulling out  Attachment 18699 6. The top of the completed tube should look like this. Attachment 18701 7. Insert the tube with the skinny part in the back like this. Attachment 18702 8. Put your radio in. Attachment 18703 9. Close the flap. Attachment 18704 10. To prevent hang-up on a sling or any other gear or equipment, tuck your antenna under your admin pouch if you got one. Attachment 18705 ooooolalalala |
why not just turn the key lock on? or turn it backwards so the screen/buttons face your body.
|
Havent figured out if it has a keylock or not :( I had the buttons inward and it was no better.
|
haven't had an issue with my Wouxun KG-UVD1P or moto talkabouts keying up or the the buttons being pushed inside similar condor pouches.
|
looks like a pocket protector for pens, but hey if it works who cares?
|
On my Linton I can bump the key lock and shut it off. I've got a similar setup in my pouch, also to raise the radio up so it's not at the bottom of a black hole.
|
I just put spare socks in a ziplock bag under the radio.
You can never have enough spare socks. |
That's why the back part is skinny, I just clip the radio to that and it sits sorta in the middle of the pocket.

1) Covering the Antenna defeats the point of having it in the first place. You will have shit reception and noone around you will be able to hear you. Theres a reason radio operators wear external antennas... Ill give you a hint. Its not to look pretty.
2) Lock your radio so you dont press buttons by accident (In the time it took you to make this, you could have read the instruction manual or figured it out by playing with the radio settings 3) if you bend, you will put pressure on the antenna, eventually breaking it points for being creative, but its utterly pointless, that energy could have been put to use in learning how to use the tools you have properly rather than jury-rigging a solution you dont need. |
Yeah the pics are kinda crappy but these are Uniden.......utter shit. There is no lock.....they only work within the field.....I plan on using it to carry water balloons too :D
