Black Vests?
 

Ok so I ordered a couple black swat style vests not knowing they came with velcro "POLICE" badges and therefore figured they were legal. When I got the package sure enough those were in there (along with green bonus ones lol!). Anyways I was under the impression that having black vests that say "swat" or "police" is rather illegal and therefore would be seized at customs. They came earlier than expected with not even a delay at customs. Did I get lucky or am I wrong about legallity?

Weather you got luck or not, for what ever reason, should not be the concearn. Just never ever take them out of the house, cause you`ll have a hell of a time trying to explain how or why you are not impersonating an officer....and yah, you can be charged with that.

Especially if you have your AEG and other kit with them.

I'm going to agree with swatt13, you're allowed to wear damn near what ever you want so long as it's just clothing (and isn't exposing genitalia). Obviously, brandishing a firearm, impersonating law enforcement or not, will get you in shit.

It's illegal to IMPERSONATE the police.

Apparently it's also illegal to impersonate a stripper if your scale reads "350lbs". :D

and to the rest, thanks all for the feedback, I am very careful about all of my gear, it all goes in plain back packs into my truck and i wear regular clothes till i get to where we play which is out of site of the highway on my property 30 minutes out of town.

I never said that it was illegal to own. I said that it'd be in his best interest to leave them at home...... rather than have to try to explain to an officer why he has an assault rifle (or 2 or 3) and a black tact vest that say POLICE on it.

Say you live in Toronto> you would be ok wearing a US Police dept patches or another city, Wearing the garb is one thing acting pretending or making others think yer a police officer is another. SWAT or whatever is OK Police patch is OK but even though wearing city specific patches is unneccicary it is legitimate to wear POLICE on your vest.
to IMPERSONATE the police is illegal > but i bet if you made an ERU ERT uniform you should be ok I wanted to make an LAPD uniform, I am in the planning stages of a fictional homeland security tac response uniform with patches.

The Kustoms assholes probably wont care as you can buy police dept. patches no problem and so long as its not a canada customs patch then they will roll it along.
