Worst Airsoft Injury Ever

Whats that worst and most painful shot you've ever attained from another person shooting you?

HGI December 16th, 2005 15:56

I didnt get shot but I've seen people get their teeth broken and I've seen people trip and land on their faces.

GMTII December 16th, 2005 15:59

First game I ever played, I got shot right on the top of the head with landens (cortexburn) sniper rifle...I remember it was bleeding a bit, but my hair covered it up.

I didnt see this happen but I heard someone got a tree branch through their hand. I'm glad I wasnt there when it happened either.

Erik

Like pierce through!? OWWW!

odp December 16th, 2005 16:04

Yeah, that was at the first Calgary Westcan. Didn't see it happen, but saw the result.

Peachyclean December 16th, 2005 16:06

Gotta purchase those metal plated gloves. That would be good for protection.

Kimbo December 16th, 2005 16:06

Got shot nearly point blank in the front tooth (the one with a $1000 crown on it  ) the bb broke in two and one half lodged itself inside my bottom lip.

HOLY CRAP! man that sucks. How much did that cost to repair?

Will a Balaclava prevent those kinds of injuries?

Peachyclean December 16th, 2005 16:12

Alrite after seeing those pics a mouthgaurd, gloves and a balaklava is a must. Those are serious especially teeth injuries.

FOX_111 December 16th, 2005 16:12

balaclava won't protect much. Maybe prevent the skin from breaking, but not welting.

Just close your mouth and you most probably won't break any tooth.

short answer, no

long answer.... maybe... depends on the actual orientation of the shot.

Tooth breaks.. of which I have witnessed one.. and suffered a little chip myself ...ocurr on direct shots to the teeth.. a belaclava over the mouth will reduce the chance of such a shot.. but I have received bleeders through a belacalva.. and so it stands to reason that a direct shot to the teeth through a belacava can still damage teeth.

There are many types of belaclavas.. really thin ones to next to nothing.. good thick stretchy ones offer more protection.

I now wear a cut down paintball mask most of the time.. with a belaclava underneath... for the close in engagments at TTAC3.

Peachyclean December 16th, 2005 16:19

When im visiting in Toronto I will most likely visit TTAC games and play alittle myself.

I might as well bring a mouthgaurd to all games from now on. :p

Keyboard December 16th, 2005 16:25

I wear a mouthguard, and if you're you're used to one being in your mouth it's no problem for talking. I've played hockey almost all my life so it's no problem for me to talk with them. I also wear a fleece balaclava too, helps from getting bleeders.

Greylocks December 16th, 2005 16:49

Want to protect your face? Wear a paintball mask. That is mandatory at most places anyway.
The rest? Up to you. Relax, injuries are rare if you dont act like a fool and wear the right gear.

yanhchan December 16th, 2005 16:54

I've heard of goggles being mandatory but not masks...but I believe you.

made Man December 16th, 2005 17:16

Not airsoft, but a friend of mine was playing pball with his buddies on a farm, and one guy got a tree branch though his leg. Docs said it was really close to an artery.

How do you get stuff piercing through your body? especially branches people may need to start wearing eye glasses for sight. :p

Blackthorne December 16th, 2005 17:26

The Best Protection

The best way to keep you face covered is with your gun. Keep it high and ready and it will naturally cover about 90 degrees (by that I mean it will block anything inbound from the right if you shoot righty)

Of course, if you get shot from the other 90 degrees...you best keep your mouth closed and take it on the lip.. :D

Fall?
I've had a couple closed call like that. Slipped and felt a couple inches from a sharp (broken that way) branch pointing up.

Syphen December 16th, 2005 18:31

I haven't really seen any injuries per say caused by BB's hitting people. I have seen slips, trips and falls that have hurt people good. In terms of painful shots? I got a mouthfull of full auto glory at Sgt. Splatters last year. Made my tongue and nice, big and poofy with a bloody welt, and I think I swallowed a bb or two. Thank god there was no teeth hit. (It serves me right for going nuts and yelling whislt charging with a full auto glock 18c)

Peachyclean December 16th, 2005 18:32

Lol i was thinking on the line of people walking or running into them. How dumb of me not think that they fall onto them :p

I beleive it, I had a twig through my shoulder while on my dirtbike. I was a very lucky boy it wasnt through my neck.

Peachyclean December 16th, 2005 19:08

Damn twigs and branches im beginning to hate them.

ColtFarmer December 16th, 2005 19:21

worst injury i ever saw was at FR a few years ago when Lithium got a blast from some wolfpack guy popping up in front of him, BB went through his fleshy chin lol, lotsa blood.

worst PAIN i've ever had from being shot was when i was shot in the head by grizz a couple years ago from about 10 feet away, it oddly didnt leave a welt (actually i dont ever remember having a welt) but it made blood kinda well up from the pores around where i was shot... wierd...

Droc December 16th, 2005 19:34

I took upgraded fully auto in the face from 15 feet. Hurt like a mofo
aside from that, I took a spill last LZ game of the season and fractured my knee

attack-beaver December 16th, 2005 20:07

i once got shot in the tooth didn't break but i had to sit down it hurt so bad. but the worst shot ever was one time as LT in calgary got one right in the left nut i hit the ground and just lied there for a min cause it was a gas pistol at about 5 feet. i was down for the round.

Ya, the runway at the LZ is a slippery bugger at the best of times! I've slipped on it in clear weather, warm and rained on it a few days before, just by WALKING!!! They way you guys didi'd the hell out of the CQB house that day, don't blame you for slipping. If I had have known that that eleimination starts AFTER the team leaves the "embassy", instead of our having our little team enter the embassy, I would have respawned after Primus took me out and covred your asses on extract. Oh well, first time playing that game, shit happened.

Worst I had to deal with was a BB in the upper lip from Droc, and last game, rushing through the brush, had a stick break off and stab my in the cheek right beside my nose. Yes, was a bleeder, but nothing big at all. Quantis DID shoot my in the earlobe one day, hurt a lot, nothing big as well. Bah, who cares, this is airsoft, not laser tag.

Deftonius December 16th, 2005 20:28

Nothing too bad has happened to me, took a shot to the tip of the pecker with a gas powered M24, while I was walking off the field with my gun over my head. Was about 15-20 feet away tops. Took a springer to the tooth, hurt, but not too bad. Was only a springer. Twisted my ankle playing in Rigaud a few years back, was walking fine in like 5 minutes. Like I said, not much here.

I have witnessed a good bleeder right under the goggle line, That was Mini-T, I think it was Halo or Hooch who shot him. Also witnessed some pretty bad falls. Just Bob took a spill at 'Nam 2 and hurt his ankle pretty good, we had to carry him out.

Peachyclean December 16th, 2005 20:30

I agree when u play airsoft u must expect some pain. I just wanted to hear others pain and laugh at them............... :p

Mysteryfish December 16th, 2005 20:45

I took an over-upgraded P90 shot through the glove on my left hand (- yep... through nylon and threads) and it bruised the bone of my knuckle. From a good distance too.

Wasn't terrible, but I was certain at that point that if I'd taken the shot from up close it would've sliced my finger off

Also, I planned (and botched) a mini-ambush, but I'd looked for an escape path. I was up high, and my escape required about an 8 foot running drop onto a fairly good landing spot.

I jumped, landed ok, but stepped out of it with all my weight onto the side of my foot, and damn near busted my foot off at the ankle. Turns out it was only a wicked sprain, but the noise it made had me thinking otherwise.

Oh, and I shot one of the local players (Malice or Whozat... I can't remember) right in the beans with a Marui shotgun at 10 feet. He was lying prone, and when I came around the corner and found him, he rolled over, feet towards me to try and shoot, and my instinctive shot instinctively went straight for the head. Wrong one though...

He was walking funny for a round.

Splinter168 December 16th, 2005 20:46

I've already been hit in the back by a MK1 Luger at 400 fps at 6 inch distance. Lots of pain and a little hole the size of a BB. The guy did a reflex move, I scared him, he never saw me coming. :-D

Greylocks December 16th, 2005 21:05

Honestly, the worst injuries I ever saw first hand were from spills and falls. The most disturbing was digging a BB out of a guy's chin (I do mean 'digging'). The most embarassing was a guy who had just crawled through a large patch of poison ivy; we had to hose and soap him down.
I've seen far scaryer situations in the SCA (Medieval combat), many of those required medical evacuation in a hurry, and most had nothing to do with the combat part.

Darklen December 16th, 2005 21:16

Got hit in the tip of the nose, twice, within 10 seconds , at about 20 feet. and I wasn't even playing, I was taking pictures that day, wearing a traffic vest. Bled & hurt like a mother for a bit.

Dozer_01 December 16th, 2005 22:07

I cant remember the exact date, but it was damn cold at Flag raiders (snow)and i did a 360 in the air off this little bridge by the marine base. Threw my GBB a good 20 feet in the air...

Janus December 17th, 2005 03:32

Seen a nail go through the foot. That was kinda messy.

Worst pain I ever had was catching a shot in that little soft spot behind the earlobe. I saw stars and staggered around for a bit.

oates76 December 17th, 2005 03:55

My last outdoor game at Bragg Creek I took a tree branch to the skull.... luckily i was wearing a bandana or it would have been worse, but I went to the hospital and got 8 stitches. The most blood I've ever seen, but I took it out on the tree... 'cause nobody makes me bleed my own blood. :x:

Cyclic December 17th, 2005 08:13

..Was running around and stepped on a timber spike once. Skewered right through the steel shank in my boot and through the main knuckle in my big toe. Shook it off, woke up 2 days later with a blood infection in my foot. If I had of waited 6 more hours to go to the hospital they would have had to take my foot. Spent 2 days in hospital getting IV's and doped up on percocet's. 3 years later it still hurts everyday because the infection ate most of the cartilage in my joint, so I have wicked arthritis in it.

Couple years before that I got nailed in the pinky nail with a cheap-ass TM springer from a foot away. Lost the nail a couple days later... Little BB, low fps gun, tiny finger = most painful hit ever. Lucky shots are often the worse.

Vindicator December 17th, 2005 13:02

Wow quite the amount of stories out there, with chipped teeth, bleeders and ect. Which got me worried about being hit in the ear. I havent come across precautions pertaining to the ear just the eyes and teeth (then again im a noob) I heard some people dont wear any more than just goggles or even with a belacava is it possible for you to seriously injure your ear or even break your eardrum? :x: I know its quite a way to you eardrum and the ear canal isnt exactly straight. So maybe theres nothing to worry about.

Snark Eater December 17th, 2005 13:59

My experience was more funny/embarassing than painful. It was at an outdoor field, there used to be a tree farm on it at one point. There were lots of trees and lots of tree holes. Tree holes are generally 1.5 to 2 feet deep by 1.5 to 3 feet wide, it's what's left in the ground when you dig up a smallish tree.

Anyhow, the place was overgrown. Grass and scrub up to your waist in lots of places. There were two things we had to take from the enemy base back to our base. I grabbed one (a makeshift flag on a pole) and someone else grabbed the other (ancient laptop) and we bee-lined it for our base at top speed, single file. Through some of that waist-high scrub I stepped into a tree hole and went down hard and fast. Anyone watching us would have seen two guys running, and then one of them suddenly disappear. It must have looked extra funny with the flag in hand. The other guy didn't even notice until about 10 seconds later when he looked back and I was just gone.

Long story short, I was very lucky that I didn't end up with a knee that bends in the opposite direction.

smith December 17th, 2005 15:43

Haven't really gotten any injuries myself, but my brother-in-law cracked his sternum at a game :)

Was assaulting a base at night, mp5 at the ready, and didn't see the fallen over wire fence... trip, and his Mp5 broke between the ground and his sternum.. morphine for him!

Gun can be seen in the 3chimps blooper video, it's the broken in half one on the hood of the white van at the begining..

Goldman December 17th, 2005 16:04

double backflip off a snowly burm @ FR. needless to say my tail bone hurt for a few days after that one.

fatillac December 17th, 2005 16:12

That would suck to get a BB stuck in your ear. if you are worried about it, why not wear a full surround paintball helmet?

playing at one of our island fields i was walking by a pill box that was about 15 - 20 feet and it was to dark to see anyone inside and the opened up on me walking towards them with an AK i got shot several times in the chest and face and i turned while getting shot to dodge the barrage and had one planted deeply in my right ear. Had to pull my ear forward and try poking underneath my earto try and get it out. it was scary as hell but i finally was able to force it out from the back of my ear after 15 minutes or so and it left me with a friction burn inside my ear and alot of welts on my face and chest

edit: i was also wearing a skull cap style hat that was half covering my ears and a boonie hat on top of that the chances of getting hit inside my ear and the chances were incredibly slim for it to happen but its not gonna change whether i wear a paintball mask or balaclava

Shadow22 December 17th, 2005 21:05

I can relate to those shots on the finger nails, taken a few to the lip and they are not as bad.

My screen-name on the SD Forums is HeatStroke for a reason. Suffered it badly only my second time to an outdoor game. I was geared and ready to go at 8:45 am for the 9 am start, however "game on" wasn't called until 11 am and at 11:01 I was on my back and out.

Having to lie on your back for four hours when you intended a full day of fun, really sucks besides heat exhaustion makes you feel "poopy" for the lack of a better word.

Zeke December 17th, 2005 22:53

Last October I iook a shot ot the face while in the Bunker on Hill 3322 at FR. First off I have no idea how someone got me in there. He was either a damn good sniper who I should buy a beer, or someone who simply sprayed, prayed and god was listening. Anyway, it hurt like a bitch and bled a bit. I didn't actually realize how bad it was until I got in the car and looked in the mirror at the end of the day. Ended up having a nice C shaped cut on my cheek, thought for sure I was gonna have a scar, but nope.

Lisa December 18th, 2005 01:37

Nothing more serious then scrapes bangs and bleeders.

Rollin60 January 1st, 2006 21:45

The other day I was playin with some friends in the woods and it was just a shitty crosman PulseM70 mini MP5 but I took my mask off for just a second to see why my gun wouldn't load and at that split second a bb hit right under my left eye...my only good eye left!(my other eye isn't great) scariest moment of my life...if that hit my eye I would be blind in one eye and declared legally blind in both eyes so i'm very lucky..A lesson learned.

Im just starting this hobby and I took a look around this thread.
After all this bb hurts more than I thought, but this makes the hobby more respectable for me. I guess these wounds are still "better" than a 7.92 round in the arse.

That's why you should play in controlled areas with experienced people who follow basic safety rules instead of some woods.

The worst injury I had happened at a 24 hr edmonton game. It didn't seem so bad untill towards the end of the game when it was getting progressivly worse. The heel on my boot collapsed and the stress on my akilies tendon for the remainder of the game made it extremely difficult to walk for the next month. I even had to hitch a ride on one of the clean up trucks to get off the field. Turns out I had micro tearing.

fantastix January 2nd, 2006 11:20

I've been stuck to a tree by my hair while 3 people shot at me. Not damaging, but painful.

Worst injury I've ever seen was at a FR game last year where my friend tripped in a ditch and tore the ligaments in his leg. He still cant attend games.

A nail through the foot came second. Although, that doesnt stop airsofters. Once some gauss and duct tape was located the guy came back into the game, hopping around with a mac11 on his good foot.

D_oo_S January 2nd, 2006 13:12

Worst injury.. When I was running and tripped and fell ontop of my M933 and put it into two pieces. Mind you I did have a 8 inch silencer on it so that helped.

wildcard January 2nd, 2006 13:24

hunkering down behind a barrel with some guy on top of the hill with a working vulcan = extremely volatile, slightly upset( ready to shove the damn thing up his ass)his ejection from the game plus the threat of dimembering a certain body part and me picking out bb's out of my head and aeg 6 hrs later

yanhchan January 2nd, 2006 13:42

I think layvering is key for balaclavas if you have like thin ones or you might want to sew extra material to protect some specific spots like your mouth.

Hehe. Been there, done that, and all I got was this lousy... rash.

My worst airsoft injury was definitely from crawling through poison ivy at 'nam at Foxden in ottawa.

Somewhere I have photos of the blisters that grew on my arms (and I did landscaping as a dayjob.) I basically had my arms wrapped for about 2 weeks with calomine.

Blisters must've been at least 5mm high, all down my arms (and in certtain other places that showed up later that night.)

Lesson learned, if you think there's posion ivy, hold your pee as long as humanly possible.

Wow, saftey gear seems more than justified. I realize that some people don't care about the pain/bleeding but I'm pretty thin skinned, usually dressing in a balaclava with paintball mask and several layers in the chest and legs, although I'm going to start thinking about getting better gloves. I don't know how I'm going to be able to shoot at some of my better friends who think that sunglasses are face protection now.

Way to scare the newbs into safe play :)

If your friends think sunglasses are enough, they are STUPID and should NOT be playing this game at all. That's a huge risk to them, and an even worse legal risk to everyone around them.
No suitable protection worn = No Game. Period. Geeze!

Went up some wooden tower thing in FR 2 years ago, the next thing I know is my left leg going through a hole and the only thing keeping the rest of me going through the hole is my right knee, which somehow got wedged in an odd 90 degree angle. Called for help as I couldn't get out of the hole myself and didn't have any leverage.

Still hurts to this day when it rains :(

BTW who the fuck puts a hole in a tower...

Yeah, I can really agree with that. This thread seems to have straightened them out though.

eYEBALL DAMAGe

About 6 years ago we used to play a version of airsoft in the UK...one of the guys had open sided eye protection on and a shot came in from the side, hit the inner surface of his glasses and ricco'd against the surface of his eye...had to get stitches on his actuall eyeball....very scarey...thought he had lost his eye and more imporantly...scarey cuz we were already one man short on our team so this was a real bad situation

A Nip Off The Tip

no pain no gain, but teeth are expensive

took one to the junk from a TM G18c GBB at point blank in my buddies basement where we sometimes play...that was unpleasant, couldn't screw for a week

Lynxicanus January 30th, 2006 13:09

Ive been shot in the corporate package before from 8 feet away (took about 5 or 6 bb's) which was rather painfull, but by far the worst shot I have ever recieved was right on the tip of my nose. Dropped me to my nees, eyes wattered up so I couldnt see anything, even took me a second or so before I could find my voice and start swearing and cursing.

The one thing I never understood is how people 'have more respect' for airsoft when they find out it hurts... You have got to love the mentality that if something doesnt hurt then it does not make my ***** bigger and I'm not too manly for my pants.

I was sooo disapointed when I found out people didnt change after we left kindergarden.

Dr_Tinshnipz February 16th, 2006 14:29

so far just 2 propane burns ( dont know what to call them) on my pinky fingers :(

XOXOXO February 16th, 2006 18:04

Wow! Didn't know BBs could do so much damage when they hit special places... I think I'm gonna invest in some extra protection 8-O

Just close your mouth and you most probably won't break any tooth.

I try to do that always, only sometimes after running breathing through the nose doesn't provide enough airflow.

i have made a custom face mask made from two layers of stainless steel mesh, and interlocking pieces of shock resistant plastic. the mask isn't even 6mm thick including the impact foam padding. it's light and hugs my face perfectly, and i can breath with out it fogging up my goggles. it has been painted cammo, and can take 400FPS shots at point blank with .25g BB's. does not get in the way of my gun at all.
i will never get a busted lip again!
anyone intrested in one can ask through PM, and i might even make a new topic about it with pictures.

GraveTech February 17th, 2006 09:51

I just use a double layered thick wool balaclava. Last game I play I had two shots to the mouth, one stung a bit but didn't leave a mark and the other I barely felt. You can buy them from Mark's Work Wearhouse for $8+tax and they aren't that bad indoors either.

I was showing my girlfriends, sister's girlfriends my TM NBB sockom with silencer attatched. I had the safety on as it was fully loaded ( I was going out for a game that day). One of the girls asked to see it so I obliged and after hading over the silenced airsoft weapon she turned off the safety and pulled the trigger. The gun being a foot from my wang went off striking the tip of the before mentioned member. Because the gun was silenced she figured that it was not loaded and was going to pull the trigger again. I very aggresively and unforgivingly disarmed the girl and limped off to the bathroom to inspect the injury. Upon inspection I had a black welt right on the tip ( man it hurt to pee for a week!)
I know it was my fault and a lesson did come from this

LESSON= DO NOT GIVE A GIRL A GUN ( OF YOUR FREE WILL) OR SHE WILL SHOOT YOU AND MAKE IT COUNT! :x:

Krieg February 19th, 2006 16:40

you should've tell her: look wat u did, NOW FIX IT!

LOL J/K, it mustve been extremly painful man. Hope you fully recovered

shea_115 February 22nd, 2006 16:22

the last game I was at I got sniped out and hit right in the cheek that one was bleeding for a while. I think the gun that shot me was at 370FPS.

ppimppanda March 2nd, 2006 20:50

I was playing at a game when I got snuck up on from behind, his weapon was at 450 fps, he tried the mercy rule but I turned around to try and shoot him and he shot a small chunk out of the top of my ear, very very painful.

Assault Pioneer November 14th, 2006 10:50

I got shot piont blank in the groin by some new kid with a ghillie suit and a vsr 11 with red gas. he was almost invisable and i was busy lookin to my right trying to get out of line of fire and i ran into him. man it hurt! i was out for the day (and for the week with my girlfriend) so now I wear a cup

Did you have to resurrect a thread that old?
