My first metal AEG was a Romanian-style cybergun AIMS. Right now I'm working towards a sort of ghetto PMC look, kitted out but still a bit old school. I'm about 50% finished with my modifications for it, right now all that's on there is the new gas tube rail and a cheap silencer.

Originally it was a DBoys AKS74. It's all steel - literally everything, and solid as a rock. Added a Romanian lower handguard with an LCT upper handguard. Madbull firepig, I know it's not the Krinkov one :(. Also added a brown Element pistol grip. Just focused on the externals with this build, planning on working on the internals as they break which is likely to happen soon with an auto wind drum mag and 11.1v lipo :P. the battle scars will come with use, I prefer natural aging over intentional weathering. Oh, and a nice bayonet for kicks.

Where the heck does one get LCT ak's from? They all shoot around 300-320fps according to all the overseas websites making them extremely hard to bring in. I've been salivating over their vast selections for many months now.

After some zeroing it works phenomenally. Grabbed a couple of RPK-length mags. Some fine auto refinishing prep pad. Gives it a very even "wear" compair to sand papers or scotch brait. The wood's still too new. Gonna bake it dry and dip it in used motor oil then put it in some actual use to get that old feel.

I started cold bluing on my CYMA AK-47 with Outers Gun Blue. It worked on the monkey metal parts as well as the steel. The finish turned out a little blotchy, but it just adds character. So far the upper receiver, selector lever and most of the business end.

It's probably early-mid 90's era and pretty glompy looking, like a Russian designer saw an MP5 Navy, decided they needed something like it for 74Us, and made an unsubtle facsimile. I've done plenty of different google searches and really have no idea of what to call it. I'm quite certain based on this that it's going to be quite rare or even impossible to find, but if anyone knows what it might be, well that's half the battle. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and furthermore has a source on one, I will 100% seriously mail them cookies. Pics of my 107SU build will follow shortly. |

The Mp5 Hand-guard was custom fitted. The only Flash-light ever made for the AK series rifles, never got past the prototype stage. I don't remember the name but it was big and mounted to the optic plate. |

Impressions internally: Good.
Needs shimming, which is pretty standard for anything cloned. The outer barrel was bent a wee bit. and the hopup was actually completely disengaged from the wheel (if you pick one up, you'll understand) so I had to screw that back in. I shot it on my lunchbreak with the fixed hop, and its actually very consistent and accurate. i'm excited to run some heavier BB's and mount the proper scope on it. All despite the curve in the barrel. If worst comes to worst, i'll just buy a complete SVD gearbox and plop it in :). Already hunting down a new inner barrel and new mags. |

Needed to floor that crappy iphone picture. But yeah. The gun needed a lot of fiddling with out of the box to get it shooting right. But once thats all out of the way, I was getting some real nice range and accuracy out of bastard .25's. Curious how it'll run .30's. We'll find that out next week. I should also have my POSP by then :). |

Strelok, I was considering picking up an SVD in the near future. The ones readily available to me are the CA and the CYMA. I believe the CYMA has real wood furniture, but given an identical price what would you recommend, internals and externals considered?

My CYMA that I ordered from Evike a few months ago. Still hasn't seen a game but it sure doesn't look like it. The only thing I'm missing is a PBS-4 suppressor.
