So, that pro-win hopup is pretty much megafucked. Gonna try and save it, but I have my doubts.

Thanks CP.

Edit

On another note, they figured it to be appropriate to let the package sit in winnipeg for a whole day for no real reason. If it was sitting like this the whole time... Jesus fucking christ. I'm just happy the rest of the package is in good condition. Inside it was packaged pretty well, but I guess it got a bad squish at some point, the box had dimpled in as if they put something 'really' heavy ontop of it.

Wow, CP is garbage!

Was there insurance on it? If so, have the sender claim it.
Get your money.

The other day as I was sorting the mail (I'm mailroom/receptionist) I noticed that almost half of the letter mail was distinctly for residential addresses and other companies, a lot of them not even in the same neighbourhood!! I wonder how often this is happening, and did they get our mail? Anyway, I sent them back to CP.

Well, not a Canada Post story/question, but I’m more then sure most of you have experience enough to answer my question…

I’ve always tried ordering things from within Canada to avoid added charges at the door. So far so good. However, the first time I order something from the US, I get charged $50.00 at the door for no reason other then “broker fees”. Now I’m not sure if it was because the package contained a gelcoat to cast fiberglass autobody parts with (A pretty toxic material…) or just because it came from the US and was delivered by UPS.

Would I have a similar problem if I ordered a package coming from the US containing some A-TACS gear (Just BDU’s a vest and some pouches)? Or should everything be fine?

Innocent July 31st, 2011 15:27

Nothing to do with what you ordered, it's because you used UPS (Fedex does the same). They charge a broker fee based on declared value, as well as whatever assorted fees they can think up. You can end up paying more for brokering than the shipping originally cost. I've heard of people having to pay almost half the value of the goods in broker fees.

Innocent July 31st, 2011 15:28

On a related note, Canada Post will charge broker fees on anything with a declared value of about $20+. It's not as bad as UPS or Fedex, but still irritating.

hot_shot under fire July 31st, 2011 16:05

Well, the buisness I'm buying from said they will be shipping using USPS, so any "danger" there?

Innocent July 31st, 2011 16:31

USPS passes everything over to Canada Post at the border as far as I'm aware, so I'm going to say be prepared for CPost fees, but you might get lucky :) I guess it would depend on if USPS brokers it, or if CPost does.

Not true. Regular parcel does not. If this is a business sending with Business Expedited, or anyone sending with XpressPost, then it would have $100 basic insurance.

But tell the sender to start a claim.

Anyone still waiting on pre-strike parcels? I had something that was shipped in May and still haven't got it... considering writing it off :(

McCrea September 17th, 2011 10:20

I got a parcel stuck in customs since september 13th and it's only nylon!!!!

GSK88 October 13th, 2011 17:09

Anyone had a problem with packages coming out of the Montreal area? First package from St.Zotique just dissapeared, was Xpress post and showed up like a week and a half later after I put a trace package ticket with CP...That was like 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Then today, a 2nd package was priority AM from Repetigny that never showed up, no attempted delivery or anything...

I ordered some nametapes from 1800nametapes September 13, and they shipped on the 19th. It was shipped via airmail and JUST got to me today. Hell, I ordered a MICH 2001 helmet from Hong Kong and it got here in 6 days!

If I wern't so damn cheep I would go with UPS or Fed-Ex, but being raped with fees isn't my idea of a good buy...
