does this include counter workers as well? My issue is I know my item should be here thursday but the turd that works my street doesn't know how to fricking ring my door bell... so it usually gets sent back and than to a post outlet.

As of right now only the RMC wokers are not striking. They are the only CUPW employees that have a picket pass so they can work.

should include counter workers if it's a Canada Post retail outlet only. If the retail counter is located inside a shopper or something I'm not too sure, since the ones at those counters usually belong to the store it's located in.

As an aside, I have heard that CUPW plans on starting with rotating strikes. I've heard Ottawa may be the first one, but one city will be on strike for sure on Friday. I can tell you it WON'T be Montreal or Toronto yet, unless it becomes a national strike.

hmm I may be safe here than with my package. I talked to a counter worker here at a pharmacy and they said they are of a different union, as are the customer service folk over the phone. So its just the guys on the ground and distro centers....

our postal outlet is staffed by our staff. I am unsure if it will be shut down during the strike though.

philly0001 June 1st, 2011 19:13

My guess would be they say your lucky to have gotten your package at all. But mail will still deliver if your on welfare and the such. I wonder if the welfare office has an airsoft store they would make a KILLING during the strike. But seriously it has at very least prevented me from giving my money to buisnesses as of yet because of the strike. Why do they always wait till the last second to come to a deal?

wondering, if they sent it express do we get money back if they go on strike and that delays it?

I rolled the dice on Toronto to B.C. today. Let's see what happens.

EC74 June 1st, 2011 19:48

If Montreal and/or Toronto goes, they all go.....

EC74 June 2nd, 2011 11:08

According to the union website, they are going to start striking in Winnipeg first tonight.

This strike is confusing we are striking here but not here and here today then there tomorrow (;) lol)? But I think I hate FedEx ground more now. I live in London and the closest pick up location is in Cambridge!!! Thats 2 hours plus round trip. Lucky for me I got someone to sign for my package or I would have had to make the drive.

how's is it confusing? it's a labour disruption instead of a full out strike which would stop all shipments. currently, they are still operating which means that mail is moving but might be slower than normal if one of the striking locations has to be part of your shipment.

I much rather a rotating strike vs. a full strike.

redneck12 June 8th, 2011 15:54

They are currently running rotating strikes so they don't completely piss off the general public, even though before the strike they were doing a pretty good job of pissing the customers off.

Shirley June 8th, 2011 15:56

If they went full out strike, their bills wouldn't get to them. ;)
