1) Manufacturer, Model Name
Tokyo Marui Desert Eagle (New Gen) Black (same as chrome)
AKA, heavy weight, hi power

2) Date Obtained
Oct of 2005

3) Initial Cost
$300

4) New or Used
Used (mint)

5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
After close to a year of use, the slide catch notch on the plastic slide began to wear, such that the slide catch level would sometimes slip out of the notch if the mag was not pushed in. As this started to happen, the notch rapidly deteriorated (because it was chipping away at the remaining notch). Solution was to file the notch straight again which resulted in a the slide locking a little forward, but still worked.

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
No esthetic problems.

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
Approx 3000 from me before problem started

8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
No changes, all parts stock. However, 2nd magazine that I used was a chrome one though identical to the black one.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
Sold for about $250.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
Converted to full auto for a little while before returning to stock. Frabricated a notchless trigger bar from sheet metal to do this. Functioned better than expected on full auto. Heavy recoil was fun. Did this for about 1000 rounds without any problems. Noticed slightly more useage of gas when operating at full auto such that I could only get a mag and a half on auto. Mag freeze was a major problem (obviously)

Also propane gas was used since I got it both on semi and and full auto. No damage noticed from use of this gas.

KaneLupis November 6th, 2007 14:21

1) Manufacturer, Model Name (name of weapon on box, and weapon replicated if different from model name)
KSC Glock 26c (compact full auto with selector)

2) Date Obtained
2004

3) Initial Cost
$250 + $50 for 50rnd magazine

4) New or Used
New from then Airsoft Atlanta
Was scared it wouldn't cross the border. But it did.

5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
About 2000 rounds, gun started to deteriorate in performance. Mostly due to gap that was increasing between mag and gas chamber. This is because of wear on the plastic mag catch and the heavy 50 rnd magazine. I ordered a steel catch, but APEC got it wrong and gave me a TM glock 26 one instead. After a litle modification got it in. Worked well in reducing the problem significantly. Some more thousand rounds after that, and the seal inside the gas chamber started to go. Didn't do anything for that.

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
None. when I got it new. Though, because this is the US version, all trade marks were erased or missing.

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
Started to notice at 1000 and at 2000 replaced mag catch. 2000-4000 slow deterioration due to gas chamber seal.

8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
Steel mag catch.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
Sold it for about $200.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
Very nice little gun. Liked doing bursts on full auto. Propane used after 2000 rounds. Highly possible it contributed to the seal wear.

2) Date Obtained
2003

3) Initial Cost
$100

4) New or Used
Used

5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
None when I got it. Some 5000 rounds fired through this myself. Gradual and consistent deterioration to gas economy, performance, slide recoil. This is likely attributed to both the use of propane gas (started at some 2000 rounds) and the wear on the mag catch. Mag catch I was metal, but was tiny. Mag was large and heavy, so eventually, I had to push up on the mag to get the slide to even cycle the next round. Switching to propane at 2K rounds solved for performance issued for a little bit, but the gradual deterioration set it a little faster to the point where regular duster didn't to jack all.

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
None when I got it. Turned silver... then black.. then silver again.. But... uh... it melted...I'll get into that later

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)

8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
Full auto modification. This is the gun I wrote the Unconventional Airsoft's full auto mod on.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
Not resold. Meltdown occured.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
Full auto mod was achieved by frabricating a notchless trigger connecting bar or using a paperclip. This was done early on and I didn't keep it for long. So at about 8000 rounds, the gun was reduced to a melted piece of junk.

This all started when at about 2000 rounds I decided I wanted a silver DE. So I sprayed it silver using canadian tire spray paint. Paint felt sticky and wouldn't stay on the gun, so I wiped it down with thinner and basically turned it black again. interestingly, this created an very cool pattern as the silver remained in the various scratches all around the gun resulting in a cool wear effect (like there was metal underneath the black paint, but in actuality it was black plastic with silver in the grooves of the scratches). After a long time black I turned it back in to silver again at 7000 rounds using a different paint, like engine paint. But still, the paint felt sticky. Due to the way the paint is designed to set at a certain heat. I stuck the gun into an oven with a mild 90 degrees. Apparently, the cheap plastic melted and the frame was a twisted piece of junk. Strangely, upper slide was unscathed.

10) A great little gun hard to come by. Mags are very hard to come by I had to purchase 3 other guns to get the mags I have now. There are also some accessories for this gun that are semi rare like the silencer set and folding stock set. This gun does not have hopup stock but if you know someone who is familiar with classics they can make an scs style hopup.

For a UTG, I was pretty impressed with this right out of the box. Not a fan of the noisy hicaps, but it's an impressively accurate gun for the money I paid for it. Chrony'd at around 330fps on .20s. No internal upgrades yet, except for the battery compartment. Tried to fire a few rounds through a TM locap, and it didn't like full auto, but semi auto fed the bbs fine. Heavy as hell, feels solid now, with the RAS installed. And it's purty. I'm planning on putting a silencer on... with the long barrel. :D Although I'm only 5'8" myself... :D might not leave it on long without getting the shorty barrel.

- $250 Cdn

4) New or Used
- New

5) Mechanical Problems
- None to date, although couple of the plastic 'teeth' connecting the plastic lower body to the upper receiver broke. Has no effect on the performance of the gun though.

6) Esthetic Problems
- The fit of the 2 halves of the stock isn't the tightest, but it lines up well enough. The simulated wood grain is quite realistic though. Otherwise, everything else looks great.

7) Rounds fired between failures
- I've put over 17 000 rounds through it so far. I have't been able to find any .20g BBs around here, so I've been using those 5 000 packs of .12g Crosman BBs. I've been through 2 full ones to date plus the 200 that came with the gun. Just fired off 5 000 .20s today though. What a difference!

Changes to Internals and Externals
- No internal changes. I've only painted the lower body since it was originally clear.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
- I couldn't see myself selling this gun. I'm getting more guns, but I'm never replacing this one unless it breaks

10)Notes and Comments

I think this is a great first gun. It's reasonably solid (nothing moves, wiggles, bends, etc). Seems quite powerful too. The box advertises 105 m/s (344 fps). I don't know if this is accurate or not, but it did seem quite fast.

And the accuracy is KILLER too. At 25 feet indoors (in my basement), I can easily cut the centre out of an "official" NRA qualification targetwith very few stray rounds. I brought it out to a friend's place out of the city today for a while and we shot off a 5 000 pack of .20g BBS, and I was accurately tagging targets up to 150 feet away. I could still hit the target at about 180 feet, but there were a lot of stray shots. Still, I'm impressed with this gun. I wasn't expecting much for the price.

I'm new to Airsoft and have a lot to learn, so I'm sure my opinion here can be taken as the words of someone without much experience with Airsoft guns (I did collect BB and pellet guns for years). But in terms of reliability and accuracy for recreational shooting, I can give this gun top marks. I'm not sure how it would hold out in the field in an actual game, but to me, it appears pretty solid.

UPDATE: Dec 1, 2007 - I dropped the rifle and the stock broke off. the part that connected the stock to the stock body essentially snapped off the body. Got some duct tape on it, and it still shoots fine, only not very solid and now ugly as sin. It seems the plastic is quite brittle. Still think it's a great gun for just fun shooting, but now I'm convinced it wouldn't hold up to abuse in the field.

I never originally bought this gun with the intention of shooting it. I figured it would be crap, but I loved how realistic it looked. I wouldn't take the gun to seiously in terms of performance, but it's a looker, that's for sure.

3) Initial Cost: $311 USD (Redwolf)

4) New or Used: USED

5) Mechanical Problems: Some feed issues with brand new KSC magazines, sometimes does not feed a BB, usually fed upon second shot.
-
6) Esthetic Problems: Cocking handle is a little tough to pull, understandable since it cocks the spring back.

7) Rounds fired between failures: Unknown number of bb's at this point, no failures coming into my hands. *UPDATE* Minor failure, screw holding the cocking handle to the pin for manually cocking the spring somehow came loose causing the gun to cease firing, quick fix and back up and running in 5 minutes.

8) Changes to Internals and Externals: No upgrades at this point, original owner used as show piece, previous owner made no changes.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable: N/A at this point

10)Notes and Comments: One of the most robust AEG's I've used to date. Feels solid, no rattle, very reliable (outside of the odd feed issue). Very nice feature that the battery can be turned on and off simply from a switch in front of the trigger. Also to date this is the only AEG I've heard of that will pre-cock the spring prior to firing, also the only AEG I know of that you can manually cock the spring using the charging handle. My only real beef with this gun is the fact that you can only use KSC HK33 magazines, since they are slightly larger than the CA magazines and the feed is in a different position. Battery choice is also slightly limited due to the small compartment in which the battery is placed in the upper receiver. Upper receiver/battery compartment are easily accessed with a body pin that can be removed by hand which is extremely well designed by KSC in my opinion. Final thoughts on this AEG is that it's an excellent weapon, however parts and magazines are few and far between.

1) Manufacturer, Model Name
- KJW M9 (Full metal)

2) Date Obtained
- Nov 2007

3) Initial Cost
- $280 Cdn

4) New or Used
- New

5) Mechanical Problems
- None with the gun. But the mag that shipped with the gun leaked and had a broken feed lip and was unuseable. A&A replaced it with a new mag. New also started leaking within a couple of weeks, as did the second mag I bought. The mags tend to leak from the base of the mag, and not from the valves. I purchased 3 more mags and fill them with less propane now. I haven't had a problem with those yet.

6) Esthetic Problems
- None out of the box. It's showing a bit of paint wear on the edges of the slide and on the safety levers, but that's to be expected from extreme use.

7) Rounds fired between failures
- No failiures on the gun so far. It's never been fielded, but I put about 1500 rounds through it so far just plinking in my basement with friends and at a friend's house in the country. It's had a pretty heavy duty workout and it's holding up beautifully.

8 )Changes to Internals and Externals
- Hogue grips
- New King Arms trigger bar spring. Wasn't a problem or an upgrade. I just lost the original trigger bar spring while installing the new grips. The new spring has no effect on the performance of the gun)
- New 150% recoil spring. Didn't find it made a whole lot of difference except the slide snaps back a bit faster now. Have a 190% hammer spring for it, but too chicken to crack the gun open to install it.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
- Not a chance in Hell that I'd sell this baby. It's accurate, reliable, and hits hard. You can't ask for more than that out of a sidearm.

10)Notes and Comments

This is an awesome gun for the money. It' s accurate, has nice power, and feels great. The all metal contruction really adds some beef to the weight. The recoil isn't very powerful, but gives enough kick to lift the muzzle a bit with each shot.

I hear these guns are prone to trigger spring breakage after minimal use (less than 200 rounds). I haven't had that problem yet, although I have a spare trigger spring that came with the respring kit I bought should this happen.

The only potential downside I could see for this gun is the lack of rails for accessories, and its limited upgradeability (from the info I could find). And I honestly don't think it really needs any upgrades except the aforementioned springs.

In terms of accuracy, I can get roughly 1.5" groupings at 20-25 feet. Not bad at all, I'd say.

Beautiful gun. The finish is TOP NOTCH. One thing to mention is that it does not like KSC Perfect BB's. Use Maxi BB's or (i'm told) Metal Tech.

The key points are as follows:
1) Tokyo Marui P-90 (Red Dot Sight Model)

2) November 2006

3) 500

4) New

5) Mechanical Problems-None

6) Esthetic Problems -

-August '07 Right Backup sight slightly cracked from base. Left as is.

7) Rounds fired between failures -10,000-15,000 BBs, no failures

8) Changes to Internals and Externals

-Added sticky patch for installation of pressure switch for laser sight.

9) 400-450, not too crazy about selling this

10)The tuning piece for the red dot sight was made of plastic, and the part used to adjust the sight on the gun was metal. The plastic edges on the sight adjustment piece grinded off completly before I had the RDS correctly tuned. Turned the sight to original position using a knife, still haven't tuned the RDS properly yet. Laser sight used instead. Iron sight base cracked for no apparent reason. Occasional battery wobble, remedied by cramming wires tightly. No failures at all, great gun.

So far, this gun has been a good, solid weapon. With only one minor problem so far, buying it used was a good idea. I wouldn't pay the full $300.00 Cdn for it new, since that money could be put to a better overall rifle or a high end pistol. Without a crono available to me, I cannot verify the company's claim of 370 FPS with .20 BB's

6) Aesthetic Problems
Thumb twisty piece that allows you to take out the barrel separate from the rest of the weapon went missing during a game. forward vertical grip broke while diving through a few trees(never really used it though), also, gas system block isn't on the gun... not sure if it came with it, if it did I have no clue when it was lost.

7) Rounds fired between failures
10 000 + then battery problem, Have put 10s of thousands more through without problem (I play allot and it's my best gun)

8) Changes to Internals and Externals
Got it with deepfire piston and systema v3 bearing spring guide, added red dot (any many other different sights/random accesories, too many to count), removed what survived of the vet grip since when i broke it was just in the way.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
Thinking of selling once i get a new gun, $400-450

very, very sturdy gun, love the cocking action on it, I believe allot of it's not having problems has to do with my excessive compulsive maintenance on it ^.^

2. Date Obtained
  • Nov 2007
3. Initial Cost
  • $500 Cdn (more or less)
4. New or Used
  • New
5. Mechanical Problems

LOTS of problems! I was told to buy a TM because they last and don't give the user problems. I tend to disagree with that statement.
  • Trigger contact problems
  • Selector plate problems
  • Fired about 10 000 rounds and the spur gear stripped badly and needed to be replaced. Noticed that the nylon bushings on the spur gear had broken down significantly.
  • Got about 200 rounds with the new gears because my mechbox snapped like a dry twig. There's no way the MS110SP spring should have done that to a mechbox after 200 rounds
6. Esthetic Problems
  • None. Gun was aesthetically flawless when I got it
7. Rounds fired between failures
  • About 10 000 before the gear failiure. Only test fired a couple of hundred rounds since the upgrade. Now dead. I've now replaced all outer parts with Classic Army and a new JG 416-style mechbox.
8. Changes to Internals and Externals
  • MODDED TO A DIEMACO C8A2
  • C8 metal body with trades and Cdn Forces markings
  • Fuse holder in foregrip removed to accomodate a 9.6V nunchick-style battery
  • King Arms ambidextrous mag catch
  • Removed every last horrible TM part from the gun. It's now all Classic Army and JG
  • Jing Gong HK416 crane stock
9. Resale Date and Value if applicable.
  • I won't sell it. It's now a permanent part of my collection.
10.Notes and Comments

When I first got it, I was quite happy with it. It looked great, felt great, and shot accurately. Undortunately that didn't last long. I bought Tokyo Marui at everyone's recommendation because of quality. Now that's it's upgraded and working, it's an awesome gun, but there isn't a whole lot of TM stuff left other than the mechbox shell, piston / cylinder unit, front end, motor, stock and furiture. All these parts are just as good on the Chinese clones as they are on TM guns.

Altogether, I've sunk about $1000 into this gun to get it to its C8A2 look. In retrospect, I should have just bought a Jing Gong and upgraded it. I'd have just as good of a gun (considering all the upgrades I put on my M4) and I could have saved a couple of hundred bucks. Or for the same price, I could have the Jing Gong's internals completely upgraded with all Systema parts.

I don't find TM to be all its cracked up to be.

EDIT - March 30, 2008:

I've now replaced every TM part on this gun with Classic Army and Jing Gong. I just couldn't keep this gun running problery without problems with TM parts. Jing Gong 416 reinforced gear box is ordered and on the way.

10)Notes and Comments

This rifle has severed me very well and haven't I really looked back. The minor problems it did have were battery related and didn't have anything to do with the rifle itself. It does have a slight barrel wobble, but nothing that can't be fixed. The only thing I will be changing is I will be investing into a metal body.

8 )Changes to Internals and Externals
Note that after 20 000 rounds that all internals were pretty pristine. The piston, which is the 'consumable' part (and known to be problematic with CA) showed no wear. Parts were upgraded because I wanted to increase performance, and not to repair worn parts.
  • Systema silent cylinder & piston head set
  • Systema polycarbonate piston
  • Systems bearing spring guide
  • Systema Area 1000 tappet plate
  • Modify airseal nozzle
  • Prometheus MS110SP non-linear spring
  • Systema hopup rubber
  • 9.6V 3800 mAh Intellect battery.
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
  • No reason to sell this gun unless I was to upgrade to some other full metal M16 rifle. Seriously, this gun MAY disappear if I get a Systema PTW. Not before.
10)Notes and Comments

Great gun for the money. Looks great, feels good, accurate, and is very solid. It feels like it could take a real beating and still perform well.

CA M15s seem to have a history of issues with their pistons and piston heads. After 20 000 rounds, I experienced no failiures. Upon upgrading the gun, I found the stock internals to be in excellent condition with very minimal signs of wear. The only stock part that showed any wear was the tappet plate where the nub on the sector gear contacts it.

UPDATE: April 20, 2008

I fielded this gun for the first time today and it was my main gun for most of the day. It was reliable and accurate. And it fires very consistently too, which makes corrective aiming a breeze. The new battery brought up its rof from 12 bb/s to 18 bb/s in short bursts. In sustained fire, it easily shoots at least 22 or more, making it very effective for laying down supressive fire. The larger battery also allows improved trigger response time in semi-auto quite drastically. This gun is getting one last upgrade - a tightbore barrel, and I will then consider it the perfect gun for me.

10)Notes and Comments

This is a beautiful gun. The finish is amazing. It's hard to believe that it's not metal. It even has a cold, metallic feel. The weight is ok for ABS. It shoots well, although I find it weak on 134A gas compared to my other pistols, even my KSC Glock running on duster (before it's metal upgrade). I run it on a combination of duster and propane (80 / 20 mix). Gun runs GREAT on this combination. It's weaker than propane alone (that scared me - WAY too powerful for a plastic gun). The 134A + propane combination, paired with the stiffer spring gives the gun good power, excellent and consistent accuracy, and should keep the plastic slide safe. It's easily the most accurate of all my airsoft pistols.

  • The hopup rubber seemed to basically disintegrate after about 500 rounds. Not sure exactly what happened. It was brand new and in top shape when I first bought it. I noticed it was losing accuracy and inspected the hopup to find it in this decrepit state. Cheap fix though. The replacement hopup rubber seems a lot stiffer than the stock one. Stock hopup felt almost 'gel'-like and tore to pieces upon trying to remove it from the chamber.
6) Esthetic Problems

7) Rounds fired between failures

  • stiffer recoil spring
  • Madbull 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
  • I can't see myself selling this gun. It's a great pistol all around, and Glocks just look sexy as Hell.
10) Notes and Comments

I have nothing bad to say about this gun in either its stock, or upgraded form. It's been accurate and reliable, except for the minor issue with the hopup. With its upgraded barrel, I now get groupings of under 1" at 20-25 feet, whereas with the stock barrel, I was getting groupings of 1.5-2". Not sure of its muzzle velocity, but it seems to hit fairly hard, although my KJW M9 hits a lot harder. I'm thinking about installing a high-flow valve and stiffer hammer spring to try to increase its power.

UPDATE: April 20, 2008

Fielded the gun for the first time today. It chronies at about 315 fps and performed admirably, getting me a kill against an opponent with an AEG at about 50 feet. I'd highly recommend this gun.

- If you get it and start using it PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE TOP OF THE MAG WHERE THE C02 BURSTS ARE LET OUT THE PLASTIC WILL FRACTURE, however once it is reinforced you shouldn't have to deal with it again.
- I have not yet solved the C02 leak yet as I haven't had much chance to use it, think it just needs a new O-ring due to how much I have used it
- Personally I would prefer it over a GBB (purely personal preference), because C02 is easy to get, it shoots harder, the gas lasts longer, and is far more affordable if you don't mind not having blowback action and a non metal body (I wish there was a metal C02 gun out there)

1. Manufacturer, Model Name
  • Toyo Marui Sig P226 Rail
2. Date Obtained
  • Dec 2007
3. Initial Cost
  • $260 Cdn
4. New or Used
  • New
5. Mechanical Problems
  • The endge of the inner rail on the blowback assembly cage that engages the slide lock was battered and pretty much destroyed after 5 mags. 3 mags were fired on 134a gas, and 2 on propane. This essentially prevented the slide from locking back when the gun was empty. Seller exchanged the whole upper slide with a new one to replace the damaged one.
6. Esthetic Problems
  • None.
7. Rounds fired between failures
  • 5 mags fired before it failed. Technically, it still shot fine and accurately, but the slide lock completely breaking on a brand new gun was most disappointing
8. Changes to Internals and Externals
  • Creation metal slide and outer barrel
  • Creation piston head
  • Creation recoil spring
  • Guarder steel recoil spring guide
  • Guarder enhanced loading nozzle
  • Nineball 6.03mm tighbore inner barrel
9. Resale Date and Value if applicable.
  • I can't see myself selling this gun.
10.Notes and Comments

Cosmetically, it's hard to beat Tokyo Marui guns. They're the best looking plastic guns out there. However, this is the second TM gun I own, and the second one to break shortly after receiving it. That's a 100% failiure rate for me and Tokyo Marui. I personally wouldn't buy a stock TM again because of that. I would consider buying a used, upgraded TM that's been tested and proven reliable.

1) Make and Model
-- Aftermath, Kraken
2) Date Purchased
-- Oct. 2007
3) Cost
-- $185
4) New/Used?
-- Brand new
5) Mechanical Problems
-- minor pellet jam in over winding the magazine. Dec, 2007
6) Esthetic Problems
-- Lost 1/3 (loose screw) from reciever that bolts to stock. Butt plate cracked during rough handling.
7) Rounds Fired Between Failures
-- None
8) Changes to Internals
-- Bone Stock, Oiled with silicone oil.
9) Resale Date and Value
-- Sold in Apr. 2008, for $150

Gun was bought at Bass Pro Shops (Vaughn Mills) and shoots (as advertised) 370fps, I have a few pellet guns and belive this is true. I have not put this gun on a chrono. It is made of deecent grade plastic (could be ABS) and has metal Barrel Front Sight,Bolt and Reciver cap. it also has the spin up feature. Battery is only for use in short game senarios, and the gun came with a wall trickle charger. As far as I know I was told that this AEG is TM AK compatible for most of the internal & external parts.

1) Manufacturer, Model Name: Stunt Studio's M4.
-
2) Date Obtained: March 2nd, 08'
-
3) Initial Cost: 140$
-
4) New or Used: New
-
5) Mechanical Problems: None as of yet, but the mech box is plastic (ABS) so it won't last as long as i want it to.
-
6) Esthetic Problems: Though the body is plastic, the mexh box, and even the 203, they're all made out of ABS so atleast they're decent quality. I just spray painted it black, (body used to be see-through) yet to see stratches ect.
-
7) Rounds fired between failures: No failures. Estimated 400 BB's fired.
-
8) Changes to Internals and Externals: Externals i've added on a 23$ (from ebay) 6-point adjustable stock, spray-painted the body black, bought an ACOG rifle scope (50$ off ebay) and a red dot reflex sight (20$ off ebay). I will replace the gears with new metals ones and probably upgrade the bushings too.
-
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable: Might re-sell on ebay maybe next season. 120$ (taking into consideration the stock i put on, fresh coat of paint, and the sight i bought, bushings and gears i'm going to buy all adding up to be about 100$)
-
10)Notes and Comments: FPS is 310, it's perfect, 203 is dead-weight though, but extremely good hop-up system) Def. worth it's money. (Amazing starter's weapon.)

1) Manufacturer, Model Name: Crossman P30 (springer pistol)
-
2) Date Obtained: March 1st 07'
-
3) Initial Cost: 40$ (bought two of 'em)
-
4) New or Used: New
-
5) Mechanical Problems: None. Slide eventually broke off when i got bored and decided to dissect the poor thing. Though the second one still works. (amazingly well too.)
-
6) Esthetic Problems: Slide broke off, not reliable. (Poor quality plastic.
-
7) Rounds fired between failures: 500?
-
8) Changes to Internals and Externals: Externals got a nice coat of black paint. :)
-
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable: Might sell to a friend in need for 15$ because i can. :D But seriously, the paint job on that thing looks like metal IMHO, so it looks like it's worth more than 15$.
-
10)Notes and Comments (Optional) FPS is 280, (5FPS over the advertised price. Bro has a chrono.) Really good, reliable. Served me well in hundreds of back-yard skirmishes, and a few huge-battles.

Inade March 9th, 2008 23:29

1) Manufacturer, Model Name: DPMS Kitty-Kat M16.
-
2) Date Obtained: Summer 07'

3) Initial Cost: 110$
-
4) New or Used: New
-
5) Mechanical Problems: Ate up a shitload of batteries in a shitsecond. (really fast. :D) Eventually stripped it's gearbox and sold on ebay for 20 $, sold it's (METAL WOOOT, i was surprised) magazine to a friend for 8$ and a popsicle :D
-
6) Esthetic Problems: None, but with a coat of spray paint it looks like an ICS's full-metal m16.
-
7) Rounds fired between failures: No failures, about 40,000 (yes, i went through 2 bag's of 20k bb's. XD)
-
8) Changes to Internals and Externals: None.
-
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable: Rofl, it's all gone. Scavanged parts for some moolah (money)
-
10)Notes and Comments: First AEG ever, served me well for a few months. And it served me well especially with my ebay auctions. (mechbox, motor, and a mag to a friend.)

UTG MK96

1) Manufacturer, Model Name (name of weapon on box, and weapon replicated if different from model name)
  • UTG MK96, Maruzen Type 96 Clone
2) Date Obtained
  • Feb, 27th, 2008
3) Initial Cost
  • 150 (gun) + 110 (scope)
4) New or Used
  • New
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
  • Hopup needs to be worn in before it becomes useful.
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
  • Plastic is not completely put together and there is about a 1mm gap just below the hopup. The bipod is also wobbly but can be fixed by applying hot glue to the bolt.
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
  • Fired 4000 rounds, no failures
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
  • Purchased a Bushnell 3-9 x 40 mildot scope
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable
  • N/A
10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
  • Chrono'd at 470 fps on average with .2g BB's, 435 with .28g BB's and is effective up to around 60 meters stock(using .28+g BB's and shooting at a torso sized target). This gun is very reliable for its cost and very much alike with the Maruzen Type 96 clone it's modelled after except for the plastic body which is made of ABS plastic.

1) Manufacturer, Model Name (name of weapon on box, and weapon replicated if different from model name)
- Tokyo Marui M1A1

2) Date Obtained
10 or so months ago

3) Initial Cost
-530 for gun itself

4) New or Used
-new

5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
-Nothing, but apparently it's having accuracy problems and needs a few things replaced.

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
-After about 3 months of use, barrel wobble occurred, this was fixed by tightening an allen key hole on the top of the barrel.
- Eventually after decent amount of use, wobble turned into a full fledged broken metal piece which attached the barrel to the upper receiver (this happened as of a couple weeks ago) and I will be gluing things back into shape soon.
- If charging handle is racked too much/hard the plate it uses to slide back and forth may warp and cause bolt issues
- Bolt on charging handle is wobbly, fixable with tightening screw

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
- Rounds fired is somewhere between 10,000 - 12,000

8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
Nada

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
- Not for a loooong time.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
- Although it has its issues, I love the bugger.

4. New or Used

8. Changes to Internals and Externals
  • upraded to an aluminum spike bayonet to replace the stock plastic one. Otherwise, the gun is totally stock.
  • Plan to eventually upgrade the spring to an MS110SP since stock performance is only about 301 fps
9. Resale Date and Value if applicable.
  • Not likely to ever sell this gun.
10.Notes and Comments

This is THE AK variant to own. Real steel externals, tough as nails reinforced internals. For all intents and purposes, this is a REAL Type 56 with AEG internals and a few mods (a few holes drilled into the gas assembly) to ensure it can't be modded to fire live rounds.

This is the PTW of AKs. And in terms of externals, it actually surpasses PTWs in terms of realism and authenticity. You can't get any more real than real steel parts. And it's about 40% the price of a PTW.

So if you want the most realistic, best AK on the face of the planet today, don't buy some $600 TM and spend another $500+ to increase performance and to upgrade to metal and wood. Buy one of these.

See my review here: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=52250

EDIT: Oct 5, 2008

The selector switch developed a problem where it no longer switches to semi-automatic. I haven't tried taking it apart to fix the problem yet. Since I never use semi with that gun, I don't really see it as being a problem anyway. Will update when I get it repaired.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
- N/A
10)Notes and Comments
-Excellent gun and no problems whatsoever. Battery lasts for a long time and performs very well. Wouldn't reccomend changing the barrel like I did as it made very little difference. A small type 9.6V battery fits fine and increases the ROF quite a bit, also gives you an extra battery.

1) Manufacturer, Model Name
Remington,Wingmaster (had a pistol grip)
2) Date Obtained
spring of 2007
3) Initial Cost
30$
4) New or Used
Brand spanking new
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related)
None.
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related)
metal tube holding cocking handel broke off plastic mount

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed)
at least 20,000, could have lasted longer, but I was pretty rough with it. (only 30$ clearsoft)
8) Changes to Internals (upgrades, dates)
none it had good fps, accuracy, range. I didn't think it was worth upgrading. (I don't think there are any upgrades)
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
not selling, just hot-glued the tube on again

-Crosman, SAP R72 clear, 'Pulse R72', (G3 SAS clone)
2) Date Obtained
-April 2008
3) Initial Cost
-$145CAD shipped to my door from Winnipeg Outfitters
4) New or Used
-New
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
-The only thing of note was that when I lent the gun out someone spun the selector switch the wrong way and popped the selector free from the plate so the selector plate was offset- it was a 5 minute fix.
-Update August 2008- new JG G3A3 mechbox motor and large battery
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
-Clear plastic looks terrible, the Ver 2 mechbox is plastic and so are the gears so proper LPEG care is a must
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
-20,000 / (updated mechbox - 10k)
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
-it will now have a new 110 spring, Hi torq EG700 equivalent motor, G3 Version 2 Mechbox, 9.6V large battery stock conversion, metal 500 round hi-cap mags
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
-keeping it as a loaner
10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
-I purchased this as a learning platform so that when I had issues with a pro gun I could be confident in fixing them. Surprisingly the stock gun has held up very well and in the local CQB field it is plenty effective. In the wooded field it suffers at range and the fps is such that people can Matrix your shots unless you fire before they see you (note Crosman, with their typical BS says it fires up to 275fps- it does fire at 275fps but with .12s and 220 with .2s. If you are of a mind to take a subpar gun and upgrade it as a learning process then I would recommend other guns as better places to start learning as they are better out of the box (Aftermath, Crosman, Firepower)- basically get the R72 if you are a G3 SAS fan but dont expect much from it until you upgrade.

*upgrade edit: http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/6...afuckerki8.jpg

***I put in a Jing Gong G3A3 (2008) Mechbox and motor, rewired with the battery in the stock for a 9.6v large. It fires at about 320fps now and seems to work fine. I removed the side rails and put in rivets to cover the holes- it is now an nice easy grasp though not exactly handsized much like a proper G3. I did get 3 JG G3 hi-caps metal mags. These are shit in mag form. The first had, no shit, glued on gears and I suspect it was used and sold as 'New'. I repinned those gears and after about 600 BB's the spring snapped. I got a second JG hicap and even though I only ever wound it ten times at a go the spring broke in that after 200 BB's. My third G3 mag had its gears pinned in weakly and those fell out so I repinned them. I only wind it about 5 times now. In contrast my Crosman G3 mag has now had close to 16K .2 BB's go through it and about 1K .12s. It works to this day and I often wind it twenty times or so and it feeds me 30-35 BBs at that rate. I will likely give a TM Hi-cap a try, thoug to be honest I first looked for more Crosman mags (alas they are discountinued)

****edit- will not take the Aftermath MP5 stock

1) Manufacturer, Model Name
- TM SiG552 Commando
2) Date Obtained
- Summer 2006
3) Initial Cost
- about $460 USD (This included battery, 2 additional mags, charger, BBs, and sight rail.)
4) New or Used
- Brand New
5) Mechanical Problems
- Approximately 3-4 weeks after purchase, BB's started jamming. Simply fixed with some lubrication. (Factory lube isn't the best...do it yourself.)
6) Aesthetic Problems
- Last year in the summer, I was closing my stock (folding it to the side) and the clip inside the stock broke open connection with the fore grip.
7) Rounds fired between failures
-Well I only fired a couple thousand before the 1st failure, but ever since I lubed it myself, I've fire hundreds of thousands of rounds since then with no problems at all.
8) Changes to Internals and Externals
- Last summer, I changed my hop-up rubber, re-wired it, and allowed it to accept 2 batteries. I have a 9.6v hidden inside the stock with wiring running along the inside top of the receiver all the way forward into the fore grip where an additional battery can still be stored, or connected at the same time.
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
- Don't plan on selling this one...SiG rifles are my babies :)
10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
- I won't lie, I am proud of my SiG, but if you plan on purchasing this rifle, expect it to be on the weaker side right out of the box. the rate of fire is great with a 9.6v. It's also been a few years, and the fore grip plastic is becoming creaky now. Still looking for a fix on that issue. But that about raps it up for the 552.

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
- 20,000+ without failure
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
-none though it looks to be nearly 100% compatible
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
-n/a
10)Notes and Comments (Optional) The clear parts are the main receiver and the front of the muzzle and painted up easily enough- this particular design is about 50% metal otherwise. It came in a box (not clamshell) packed with styrofoam much like a proper AEG should. The stock is a fold out design and though it is somewhat lightweight it seems sturdy enough. Had a chance to compare it to the two TM AK Betas at the last game and it performs just as well as those (stock) guns. The top tri rail can be removed from the metal for those who dont like AKs with rails. The high cap that comes with it holds around 375 BBs. It fires a .2 BB at around 310 fps and a .12BB at around 370fps.

edit- I have since purchased 2 JG 600 round Hicaps and love them. The springs in these seem to be strong as each mag has fired over 5K BBs through them and I often wound them 30 times each (my JG G3 Hi-caps often break after 15 winds so avoid THOSE)

Mp5 Aftermath Lycaon

1) Manufacturer, Model Name (name of weapon on box, and weapon replicated if different from model name)
-Aftermath/Cyma, Lycaon, Mp 5
2) Date Obtained
-May 2008
3) Initial Cost
-$172CAD shipped
4) New or Used
-New
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
-Coughed out 1 BB then died. Opened the mechbox with the help of a local gun tech and found that the sear had snapped and gotten into the gears. Gears were in need of shim and were VERY lose. Shimmed gears and gun would fire on full auto (no sear) but would slowly stop firing. Checked and found that the fuse was unshielded. Used and extra fuse chamber and the gun now fires.
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
-the 'metal' for the stock is actually 'faux' metal. It looks like a real metal and has the weight of a real metal but has the properties of a plastic- it snaps if you are not careful with it.
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
- 1 single BB
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
-none though it looks to be nearly 100% compatible with other MP5s
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)- Although the cheaper clones are attractive new guns they are almost exclusively for people who want to learn how to fix a gun. In fact I would suggest that the first thing you do with any Cyma or Jing Gong is open it up and make sure it wasnt 'made on a friday'

**edit - will not easily take the Crosman R72 MP5 full stock, very tight fit

10)Notes and Comments :
Bought the gun before I was aware of import laws. Stock M4S is heavy, Metal gun is a TANK Very heavy. Avoid G&P Metal body if you are upgrading M4S (unless you have a small shop to work in) to fit the standard Delta Ring Metal body required rethreading. Purchased Madbull professional grade rethreading tool, took nearly 6 hours to recut the body using 8 inch bolts, a vice to hold the body, and cutting lubricant.

selector switch has a very hard time staying on safety, gearbox is a very tight fit, flap on hi-cap mag chipped

6) Esthetic Problems
pegs that hold the foregrip on have gotten really loose, the rubber rings that they go into got shredded. Stock wobbles a bit. Paint chips easy. Cocking handle doesn't seem too sturdy.

7) Rounds fired between failures
1000 and doing fine.

8 )Changes to Internals and Externals
None right now.

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
if i did sell this gun, i'd say about $230

10)Notes and Comments
I bought it along with a WA M92FS in Spokane Washington and brought it up to alberta, i don't know what people mean by border problems... Oh the rate of fire is pretty decent, and the silencer comes off really easy. The only reason I got the CA and not the ICS is because I didn't read the box after I had walked out of precision airsoft haha. Gun is about 7-8/10.

4) New or Used
- 9/10 condition, Used however previous owner only plinked 40 bb's out of it.
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
- Pump grip seems a little loose but all of these guns are like that.
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
- 2x bags of 500 rounds each... and still shooting.
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)

Jg 2008 t3k3, g3a3

1) Manufacturer, Model Name (name of weapon on box, and weapon replicated if different from model name)
-Jing Gong 2008 T3K3, G3A3
2) Date Obtained
-July 2008
3) Initial Cost
-$350CAD shipped
4) New or Used
-New
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
-The hi-cap mags for the JG G3 series are flawed. The one that came with the gun popped a wheel loose after 200 BBs. I looked and it had been glued inside suggesting the wheel had popped loose before as well. I fixed it and then the spring snapped after a mere 20 winds about 40 BBs later. My 2nd JG G3 hi-cap the spring snapped after only 10 winds! My 3rd G3 hi-cap popped that same wheel the 1st did. I fixed it and only wind it 5 times as I can feel its spring is also tighter than it should be. But that only feeds 6-8 BBS at a go now :( I use my Crosman Pulse R72 mag and it feeds and fires fine with it. I will get a TM hi-cap and some good midcaps.
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)-seems to be a nice solid gun- no creaks or wobbles
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
-about 30K with no failure; hop up rubber needed replacing in Oct
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
-none to date
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.
-Not for resale but $350 shipped was, IMO a helluva good deal for what it does
10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
-It came in a 2007 box stating 330fps, but is obviously a 2008 as JG promised that the 2008's would have a fps in the 380s (it was chrono'd at 387fps with a .2 Matrix BB, pops through both sides of a coke can and can blow a hole through the bottom of a coke can lol). It came with the charger, battery, cleaning rod, red tip cap, 200 BBs and the manual. The battery supplied was a ShuanBao 1500 Ni-cd (large Tamiya connectors) which I have used- it works fine though its my backup as I use my NiMhs more often.

It performs really well at range and I am now using .25's in it to keep it accurate at range as well.

I had an extra JG 2008 G3 mechbox and I put that one in my Pulse R72. The internals are great and that guns now around 330fps.

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)

-Solid. Some creaks, but not bad. Finish was good enough for the price. I didn't like the Caspian trademarks...

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)

-1000ish until spring cap/bushing broke

8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)

-Repaired spring cap; slightly shortened spring guide; new bushing

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.

-$215 shipped w/ 3 mags a month or so ago.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)

-Overall good gun. Full metal, nice kick, and a somewhat common pistol, which sometimes means more upgrade/replacement parts are available.

Sold it because I wasn't really a fan of the style itself, (bought it based on price in the first place), and was hard up for some cash.

Here's a few I've owned since I started playin'

Here's a few models not on the list from Windsor Ont!

1) Manufacturer, Model Name (name of weapon on box, and weapon replicated if different from model name)
-Smith&Wesson Springfield model (Looks like a pump shotty.)
2) Date Obtained
-Aug '07
3) Initial Cost
-35CAD
4) New or Used
-Brand new out of the package.
5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)
-While it is powerful for such a low price, the adjustable hop-up feature limits distance to target. Easy to maintain and repair. Great working order untill I upgraded to a stronger spring coil and the latch to hold the airpump in place cracked in half! I decided to stick with the original spring....Also the small clip provided is sort of touchy, randomly launches BBs out if you don't hold them down while loading.
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
-N/A
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
-30K+
8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)
-Internal srping coil in pump changed to a heavyer resistance and broke part of the trigger mechanizm...I'd suggest making a tighter barrel if ANY upgrades must be done, the rest works great!
9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)
-Great for close range, like all Shottys :rocket:

-Gearbox and Battary are low grade, poor FR and distance.
6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)
-Gravity feed hopper isn't sealed well, it opens randomly spilling precious ammo. Magazine is slightly loose and easy to drop (Good thing its held in by a cord! lol!) Any broken BBs WILL jam gun!
7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)
-Low grade BBs;Est.5K before breaking and jamming, High grade BBs;50K+

-Custom paint on external; Internal-Upgraded battery from 7v-9v(Or Amps idk) Metal gearbox and stronger resistance spring, tight bore barrel

3) Initial Cost

-$125 u.s.

4) New or Used

-New

5) Mechanical Problems (Gearbox issues, hopup issues.. basically functional performance related -- supply date of issue)

-trigger is a little locky and sticky like. pyramid advertised it was having a metal gearbox but what i got was a plasti-clone. dissapointment

6) Esthetic Problems (Paint damage, cracks in body, loose parts.. physical construction related -- supply date of issue)

-cracked plastic

7) Rounds fired between failures (think how many bags of BB's used before it failed. If no failure, list rounds fired up to this point)

-i dunno. maybe 20 to 50 bbs so far

8) Changes to Internals and Externals (upgrades, mods, dates)

-tried to mesh it with a plastic gearboxed cyma ak to get rid of all the clear parts but have clear handguards. spent all night modding the cymas parts to fit til i got to the three parts of the reciver and found that the crosmans were too short to work with the cymas reciever so i had to scrap all that and then just painted all the clear stuff black

9) Resale Date and Value if applicable.

-um... NA?

10)Notes and Comments (Optional)

-i know its crapsoft no doubt. dunno how long its plasti-clone gearbox with hold up but whenever it does screw up i have no clue if itll be repairable. on gearbox failure ill probly remove it, open it and see if any parts are salvagable for back up spares and then buy a front wired ak v3 gearbox

i should not have bought it. i could have got a full stocked ak beta like i wanted to build off of ehobby for only 70 bucks. hell i coulda got about two dif aegs off ehobby at that 70 dollar price as ive also been wanting a g36c
....on the plus side pyramid sent along a free tub of 5k crosman .2 bbs which seem rather nice. all smooth and sound like marbles when they clink together in your hand. and it did come with a spare metal hi-cap thats nice to have for my full metal/wood kraken

i just had to have clear handguards to see that theyd be like. oh well, its a loaner gun
