Yeah... But Greylocks flames everybody.

Better than getting flamed by the whole forum. Not too many listen to what Greylocks say anyway, otherwise, where would all the newbs come from?:D

Gerkraz November 14th, 2006 14:07

Point of interest: newbs don't know about Greylocks before they come in...

Wait a minute....That's our solution to the newb problem: tell them about Greylocks BEFOREHAND, that way they'll be too scared to come in. Either that or they'll be curious and Greylocks will become an internet-wide attraction...

November 14th, 2006 14:39

First game I played at Wasaga, I took two BBs to the left temple in a single burst. Hurt a lot, called myself out, and waited for the next round to begin. Back on the field, hiding out in the bunker, three more rounds come in and smoke me....about an inch lower on my left temple again! That was kinda painful. Needless to say, I invested in a helmet soon after.

Last Sunday, I took friendly fire to my wang from Schwag, while I was walking back to a re-spawn point. More than once I have taken hits to the lips. Almost every time I go out I seem to get shot in the lip. As above, I am on my way later today to invest in a balaclava. At the very least, it'll obscure my big mouth so it does not provide such a tempting target!

MrEvolution November 14th, 2006 14:46

just a suggestion but...you could invest in a paintball mask if you keep getting shot in the face. Thats what I would do.

scar-h November 14th, 2006 16:19

I heard that once someone put a nail in theirs and shot it and it hit them in the eye. They were sued and they lost their house!!!

... um yea

I havent been airsofting long but my worst injury was being shot right on the tip of the nose in winter when it was about -30 out. It welted and looked like a gigantic zit for about a month until it went away.

I could see the treebranch through the hand thing since i got a branch through my shoulder once (not in airsoft)

Littleshakyhands November 15th, 2006 13:14

Worst that happened to me was getting shot from across the road with a 350fps and i happened to be yelling at my team mate at the moment. BAMN, right into the back of my throat. That HURT. I felt it swelling later. he was only across the road.

DAHAWK November 15th, 2006 15:00

getting shot in the face right where I had a pimple... it hurt for at least a few hours.

Manvil November 15th, 2006 15:14

Losing 1/2 a lower front tooth within the first 5min of a day.

free4a11 November 15th, 2006 15:31

lol wow...this is my first post, and first forum message iv'e put on here,i don't own an airsoft gun yet but i really want to get one soon... what a great starter thread eh...haha....Do people ever use paintball masks at all or usually just go with the goggles?

Grave November 15th, 2006 18:15

i've never had anything big happen to me but my brother got a few bbs to the face and one got loged pretty deep in his ear... about 2 weeks later he got it out and he was just like "WTF??!?!!?"

MrEvolution November 15th, 2006 18:28

alot of people use paintball masks, but its harder to use the sights on your gun or something.

Curtis Tactics November 15th, 2006 18:31

id rather wear a face mask, other than chipping a tooth after braces

Gomerpile November 16th, 2006 01:58

worst one i had was running after a guy and bailing on some branches going across the path and landed in a huge bush of thorns:(

DEATH2000 November 16th, 2006 11:08

^^^ ouch, that musta sucked

Krieg November 16th, 2006 20:13

I had been shot in the neck from like 20 feet.
I was crawling like 30 foot towards a flag that my team had to capture.
I was at most 2 feet away and was about to reach up, of course i was looking up---> neck exposed.
Nice bleeder.

Before that Schwag nailed me in the head at Flagswipe. I had like 5 welts on my head. In that particular game I have not worn any headwear and POWWW!
Lesson learnt.
Interesting thing is, it hurt like a mother the first 2 minutes after that it was like its not even there.
Must say the guy is a good shot :D

So far thats it.......
BUT WAIT! Winters gonna be fun. Slipping, sliding, crawling, wiping out and getting shot at in the same time. MMMMMMMmm airsoft goodness

Whodini November 16th, 2006 21:08

Well... I'd have to say that perfect headshot right in the middle of the forehead from about 15metres away with an upgraded gun. I must say... Friendly fire sucks...

swatt13 November 16th, 2006 21:32

at the raat game on sept 30 i was going through the brush and came about 5 feet or so from a guy laying down, he fired a burst and all three hit me right in my dink, normally that would be bad, but id rether be shot there than in my balls. he appologized profusley, but what can you do? its not like he ment to. i didnt have any "welts" persay, but my one vien was swollen till the next day

Jesseeast November 16th, 2006 21:35

Hmm, worst I seen was my friend who I shot and hit him a cmm away from his eye, he was bleeding and lost sight for a few minutes 0.o.

takatorikku November 16th, 2006 22:04

worst for me was at FR in drug lab. was standing on the top floor when i got pegged in the back of the head by an upgraded armalite from a guy 10 feet away on the ground. my head literally snapped to the other side and i fell to my knees lol.

later on during the afternoon, i got my revenge by buggering the guy's nose loll.

HAHA tonsil snipe! Man someone could get seriously injured if they were shot inside the mouth

Aaidin November 16th, 2006 22:53

I was once playing at one our our teams fields with a doctor friend of mine (crazy british doctor, awesome guy). So I'm sneaking through the bushes when I feel stinging pain on the left side of my head. I call hit and look to see the madman himself grinning madly eyeing me down his FAMAS. We laugh and I go respawn.

Later, once the game had ended. He walks up and suddenly looks concerned. He asks me if I'm alright and I say yeah, and he says well, alright, if you're sure sorry about the ear though mate. At this point I'm a little confused but my ear still stings and I feel a bit of blood so I figure I got a bleeder on the ear. No big deal.

I get home after the game and walk into the washroom to jump into the shower and catch a glimpse of my left ear. There's blood all over it. I look closer. There's blood inside of it. Creeped me right out.

Turns out a took a BB in the ear and to this day I have occasional problems with it. Not hearing loss, just weird buzzing and stuff.

Janus November 16th, 2006 23:50

You know, I'm beginning to think that a full mask should be encouraged for both the eye AND ear protection. And somehow, I think a bb up the nose would fuck up your day too. The potential for injuries is not worth it.

-J

Jar|-|ead November 17th, 2006 03:28

i just wear the goggle.I got a ricohet into my nose once, didn't bleed it just got stuck up there and snotted it out.

yanhchan November 17th, 2006 14:58

OHHH Got one just a minute ago...Putting the slide back onto my 93R...Spring guide shoots out and hits me in the nuts from 6 inches away...

-Number7- November 20th, 2006 01:27

Lol those are some crazy airsoft injuries. Most about the groin I notice. Well this info has definitely made my mind up on protection. Cup, Face mask, and maybe earmuffs or somethin, I am not to big on helms and I dont think a bb could hurt that much if I got one in the back of my head or neck. Just keep em hidden lol.

testtube November 20th, 2006 07:40

Got one to the top of the head lying down, must have hit a nerve had sharp pain in left ear for like 3 hours actually it gave me a realy bad welt also.

Doesn't look that bad there.. but that was taken a good 4 hours after the shot happened.

This one happened when I got full auto'd from 10 feet away by a 400 FPS g3sg1... :( Not fun. He was on my team too.

trader1499 November 25th, 2006 16:17

Worst thing thats ever happened to me, is I spooked someone and they unloaded about half a realcap into my leg. It was quite the "oh shit" dance for a couple minutes... after that, not too bad. Just an interesting constillation on my calf.

And guppy, I find it hillarious you have the absolut drinker userbar over the chevy driver userbar....

airsoft is a game which involves shooting at eachother on purpose... if you're worried about minor injuries maybe take up decoupage?

freddyclaw November 26th, 2006 18:06

Skyone I hope you wear goggle under that mask or something because if someone shoots a bad bb fast enough it will explode into your eyes. I assume you know taht but just thought it might not hurt to tell you that incase.

i tried on these crazy paintball masks in a paintball game. I was the only guy left on the team with 3 people hunting me down. Dunno why they always have to aim at my head...well the story is, 4-5 paintballs struck me shoulder and above 3 landed on the mask, and since the eye protection is wire mesh....yeah...

since there are some high quality BBs that don't break and shatter on impact but rather "deform". skyone, did you happen to have BBs deform and cling to your wire mesh goggles upon impact? :)

the green mask is not certified for paintball, well, indeed there is no marketing profs within it.. it's made/from China.. it's not made for paintball because its wire mesh doesn't protect from paint. I use it for airsoft (< 1 joule, italian law) and didn't happen that a bullet cling to the wire mesh goggles upon impact.

I suggest you to buy a paintball mask that comply to grade protection standards/bills, there are many brands on the market. I am looking for this one:
http://www.pbreview.com/pics/1099530233.jpg
they are tested for impacts up to 6/7 joule and are perfect for airsoft too.
This a good site with many reviews and user test

Kokanee November 27th, 2006 10:49

I've broken bones and damaged internal organs playing airsoft - I simply don't get the obsession some people have with obscene amounts of safety and wearing full masks etc.

Might as well cover all the rocks on your field w/ gym mats, make sure there are no corners on your cqb huts, and that everyone is wearing waterwings "just in case"...

GraveTech November 27th, 2006 11:03

Well, I wear the full mask because a broken tooth would simply bankrupt me. That and I hate the dentist.

thanks for info
i think that the few fog problems might be compensated drilling small holes near lens; the mask is water proof because bullet's paint might damage eyes, but it's not needed in airsoft.

shadow1911 November 27th, 2006 14:10

Just install a small fan to goggles or apply antifog.

As for worst injery ever.

I can put a real clame on thease ones now.
in the top of the head i got a nfew bleeders from my last nights game.

I'm gonna ask, why? You're going to have another piece of kit to deal with (switching the lights on and off) as well as an image right in front of your eyes that needs to be turned on and off, all mounted to a helmet that's stuck to your head. There's a reason that in the real world NVG equipment is flip up or weapon mounted. This system's got a pretty big look cool factor, but it seems like a lot of kit for the trouble. Trust me on this, playing with extra kit and toys in a game gives your opponent loads of time to kill you.

(On a side note, I'm still very curious how your father got your airsoft guns into Canada without going through a Canadian customs agent.)

Corey Darling December 24th, 2006 19:45

Hey ibby

this was a project to see if i could do it. I've yet to spend the money on the infared gear. (about 500$) I have a binocular eye mount display at the moment. and am planning on getting a single see-through eye mount screen if i decide to blow more money on this. (kind of like Ghost Recon Advanced warfighter game) Was more for halloween than anything, and figured it be fun to play with, especially in paintball. (my brother got knocked out by a PB once hehe, and it was a night game, so thats where this idea sprung up). Was planning to mount all the lithium batterys, radio, and even a hydration pack in the backpack portion of the armour. (lots of hollow room in there) all with just 2 tubes leading to the helmet over the back of my neck.

As for turning stuff on and off. I was thinking the IR/night camera could be activated automatically with a photo sensor. that way, say i come into a bright building from outside, it will automatically turn off. the visible lights will just have a small rubber button on the side of the helmet. where they are mounted. just dreaming at this point lol. My dad is a marine radar bridge tech, so he can help me out with the electonic side of things

As for the customs, PM'd
talk to ya later

Rukus December 25th, 2006 00:25

We already went through that one at the CIA forums lol, best not to ask. No names no pack drill. On a side note that is a pretty cool get up. Halloween costum? And why bother mounting lights on your gear, that's like painting yourself up as a target at night. I'd use NVG's, and even those are some what over rated. If your in a static position they're great, but if your moving around you have no depth perception and you'd be surprised on how many old logs and shrubs you'll fall over. I had to use that stuff on my PLQ, and my Det 2 I/C's course and I'll say again, good for sentry, sucks for patrols or a lot of moving, takes a while to get used to them.

Itsahak December 25th, 2006 00:29

I don't recall that discussion involving you. Deleting an entire thread because of a question (that never got answered) I wouldn't call being "went through".
As an aside, do you know what "no names no pack drill" means?

If you seriously think this way, you've obviously never used NVG gear properly.

Rukus December 25th, 2006 04:31

I seriously think that way, and I already asked corey that question and he answered it on the CIA forums, then it was deleted, he didn't think that the thread should have stayed up..

Yes NVG's are goochee kit, but they also have their limitations, and for static positions I think they're great, maching not so good. I guess it depends on what your preferences are though.

Not here to start arguements on kit, but that is the extent of my experience with them and just passing it on.

And yes No names no packdrill I do know what it means, I've seen pack drill it's not fun, and it's just a figure of speech,

have a good christmas Ibby

Why's that? Is it because his father is doing something rather illegal, and it was posted on a public forum that the authorities monitor? I'm not spoiling for a fight, but it boggles my mind how thick a lot of the players north of Victoria are...

Worst one would probably have to be dislocating my finger after tripping on a root...My friend put it back in place for me lmfao.

Naglfar June 13th, 2007 01:14

Lost the bottom 1/3 of a tooth, didn't hit the root so there was no bleeding or pain, dentist put some acrylic on the bottom and it's fine now.
I now wear a neoprene mask that covers whatever my goggles don't (including mouth, nose and ears).

Also, to the idiots who are saying to close your mouth....try running across a field in full gear and only breathing through your nose.

Lastly, if you chip your tooth, I strongly advise you to SAVE THE FRAGMENT as it makes the repair work 1. cheaper and 2. stronger.

I agree with his statement. Cover your eyes, wear a shirt. Boots for your ankles. More then that and you should find a less dangerous game.
I mean seriously, we play a game where we shoot eachother with automatic guns and people expect not to get hurt.
Like I always said, when you goto a game, expect to come home with bruises, bleeders and welts...Getting hurt is a part of the game...this isnt lazer tag.

Was a feeling I never felt in my life and never want to have again. my shooting goggles worked LOL.

But forehead? Ugghh, I'm getting the shivers just thinking about the coconut bongo sound that'd make.

It was a nasty welt, but he took it like a man

Doesn't look that bad there.. but that was taken a good 4 hours after the shot happened.

Amos,
how did you get that mouth injury if you were wearing Neoprene?
The stuff i have is fairly thick, bbs bounce off it.

Is it really thin, like 2mm? Is it some paintball type half mask?

I have this it is type. It is about 4mm thick. bbs bouce off. But it gets hot. I was thinking of chopping it down to just cover mouth and ears.

dunno about all the posts, i didnt take the time to read all of the pages, but there are some pretty greusom shots, worst one ive seen was when i shot my buddy PB with a pistol in the neck, right near the coroted (thank god it wasnt on it!) and it was bleeding, bit tramatizing, thot he was gonna bleed out lol! my suggestion to those that lost teeth, mabye you shouldnt play cqb style with snipers around, lol!

It's the king arms neoprene half mask... I played with it once, couldn't breathe... Then modded it so I could.. then realised for CQB nothing beats a full face mask.

Now I'm selling it.

ThunderCactus November 25th, 2007 18:59

I've lost a tooth, shot in the top of the ear (same place) 3 times, rolled my ankle numerous times (F*CK YOU ROTHCO BOOTS!), ran into a barbed wire fence (sure left a mark lol), tripped over hidden barbed wire and winded myself real bad (M4 mags beat man), and my worst of all was running at full speed with my M249 and running into a trailer hitch, hit my shin so damn hard my knee hurt lol no stitches but the entire length of the bone was healing so I must have fractured it or something...

dockronixion November 30th, 2007 11:18

i got shot right in the ear from about 7 ft away hurt like a bitch also oozed sum wierd puss and hurt for about 3 days. when the scab fell off it was a 6mm perfect circle. good times

Bob the Angry Potato November 30th, 2007 11:27

God damnit, I absolutely HATE lip-shots.
Some of the ones here are far worse then mine, but I got a fairly bad one last week and it still hurts like a bitch/has a fairly nasty welt under it, along with a nasty cancar (spelling?) on the inside. Hurts when I eat and talk, as it's rubbing against my teeth.
Not as bad as some of the ones in this thread, by a long shot- but from now on, I'm wearing some form of face mask.
:(

TokyoSeven November 30th, 2007 11:34

Not one of my worst injurys, but Ive been shot in the ear before.
Right in the lobe, I wear double zero guage titanium tunnels, their not huge, but I took a shot right in the tunnel once, not pleasant at all. Stings alot, bled a little. Worst thing was, it was god damn friendly fire.

Hotel elevator door closed on me while I was walking through it caught me exactly was I walked though and pinned my arms,I couldnt move cause my arms were full and Aqua had to pry the door open, mostly hurt my pride.

Styrak November 30th, 2007 11:42

Not my injury, but someone else's. I don't think it was that bad, just a hurt/big lip was the result. Me with my AUG and another guy with his M4S were covering different paths coming into the clearing we were in. The other guy wasn't watching his path that well, and I looked back and saw someone coming down the trail, and he had gotten fairly close. I whipped my AUG HBAR around and let him have a full auto burst, and I apparently hit him in the face/lip. Oopsies.

I said the exact same thing after my first lip-shot. I even went out and bought a mask, but I ended up never using it. After the first "THWACK!" I felt when I hit my face trying to aim my gun and realizing that I can't bring the gun close enough to my face to do so, I abandoned it.
